I heard that this was his first WC game. Why the hell do they have a absolute rookie ref out there? What a dumb ass FIFA.

US makes an amazing comeback after being down 2-0 at the half. They tied it at 2-2 in the 82nd minuted. Then in the 86th minute the USA got a 3rd goal but it was called off because that ref said Edu was offside(there could have also been like 3 penalties called on the Slovenia team because the USA was getting held all over the place).

I wish I could get a video of Tommy Smith saying how wrong that call was. I love listening to him.

U.S. pulled to 2 - 2 in the second half and scored the go ahead goal that was disallowed on a phantom call. We drew 2 - 2 and received 1 point.

Lol that makes 0 sense...if you didn't put rookies in a WC game, there wouldn't be any refs! Every ref has their first appearance in a WC game.

There's like 2-3 U.S. players being held and one in a headlock, yet they called the foul on us. That ref better have gotten a huge pay off for that call, because he's going to regret it.

That's stupid. There have to be refs that have worked previous WC matches.

Lol i'm not talking about right now..in 30 years, there would be 0 refs because you are saying a ref should never ref a WC game if it's his first game.

"I still don't know why the goal was disallowed," Bradley said. "Nobody knows at this moment."

Donovan gave the Americans hope at the start of the second half. Picking up a long pass from Steve Cherundolo, he broke in from the right flank and blasted a right-footer into the top of the net from a tight angle. It was Donovan's 43rd goal for the United States.

"I'm a little gutted to be honest," Donovan said. "I don't know how they stole that last goal from us... I'm not sure what the call was. He (the referee) wouldn't tell us what the call was."

committed by Slovenia? uh everywhere.

It was just a terrible decision, I think the world is in agreement with that. He really went out of his way to balls up on this one, even if you call one of the, by my count, six fouls on Slovenia he still has to play the advantage and the goal should have stood.

if i recall, the only player that could have been offsides would have been edu because he was the one servicing the ball...i could be wrong tho (and bradley is being bear-hugged)

He could have been 10 yards offside, it wouldn't matter...he isn't involved in the play, so he is irrelevant.

To play devil's advocate... obviously they're going to break in new World Cup refs in the round robin stage, it's better than marching him out there in like the semifinal. Also, he worked the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations final, so it's not like he hasn't worked on a large stage before.

And in the grand scheme of things, USA vs. Slovenia isn't exactly a matchup of gargantuan soccer powers with huge followings. It was a match between two average teams in this field. This match ranks pretty low on the give-a-shit-o-meter for most of the world, and FIFA. If FIFA had to pick between giving that guy this game, or France v. Mexico yesterday, he's working the US game in a heartbeat.
