I've narrowed the outing down to two places, The Phoenix Golf Links and Longaberger Golf Course.

If we have it at Longaberger, here are the details:
Date - October 23rd
Price - ~$100
Website - http://www.longabergergolfclub.com
Includes (at least) 18 holes and cart, dinner, and small donation to PRF.

If we have it at The Phoenix Golf Links, here are the details:
Date - All weekends in September are open so I would choose one of them
Price - ~$65
Website - http://www.thephoenixgl.com
Includes (at least) 18 holes and cart, dinner, and small donation to PRF.

Feel free to discuss both courses and give your opinions for why you voted for one over the other. I've not golfed at either course but I know Longaberger is top notch and I've heard really good things about The Phoenix as well.

Phoenix is a links style golf course along I-71 in southwest Columbus.

http://www.phoenixgl.com/golf/proto/phoenixgl/

Longaberger is a more American style course north of I-71 east of Columbus near Zanesville.

http://www.longabergergolfclub.com/index.php

I figured that knowing where the courses are may help people make an informed decision.

Also, here's the OSU football schedule for September and October 23, something else to consider.

September 11 vs Miami at 3:30
September 18 vs Ohio at 12:00
September 25 vs Eastern Michigan at TBA
October 23 vs. Purdue at 12:00

Unfortunately, all of these games are at home.

Longaberger is completely awesome, but I think you will get a better turnout with the $65 round. That $100 price tag on Longaberger might scare away quite a few people(although, I think it is a good deal with everything included).

Yeah, but from what I can tell an outing at $100 is pretty cheap compared to a lot of charity outings. Also, in order to fill this (100+ golfers) we'll likely need the assistance of golfers not affiliated with Ohio Chatter. I think we'll fill the outing pretty easily either way.

I know a lot of people that will be interested. Did you set a facebook page for the event?

Not until we put down the deposit on the course. But yeah, I am planning on it.

There will also be a section added to the OC for registering for the outing and buying the various sponsorship packages. Also a link for those that just want to donate to the PRF.

FWIW, as a comparison: $65 was exactly what we paid when we did the outings in NE Ohio for that old site, and that was able to cover food, beer, golf, door prizes (drew tickets to give away stuff) and the donation to Fisher House was pushing $5,000 if I recall. Of course, there were corporate/private donations in there too, but they were able to pull off a hell of an event at that entry fee.

A lot of the people in it were from the site, but people brought friends and family and we filled out the outing nicely.

This. The courses weren't nearly as nice as where this will be...but they were very well run. Everyone had a blast and we still raised a good amount for a great charity. I have no problem with making this a "classier" event but regardless of where it's held I am sure it will be successful and a great day. I don't golf so I really can't cast a meaningful vote.

Gotcha. Knoll Run is $6 cheaper than The Phoenix on greens fees. $32 vs $38. Longaberger is $64 (outing rate).

September 11 is out as discussed before. Fab4 is planning an Ohio Chatter tailgate for the OSU/Miami game.

I really don't have a preference, I just think the lower price will draw more people.

Also, are there any deals with alcohol?? Or will it just be purchased like a normal trip to the course?

First one was on the far side of Hubbard, let me look up the name of it.

EDIT: It was at Deer Creek ($28 weekend rate with a cart, has outing rates too)

As Fab mentioned, the courses weren't as good as these ones would be, but no one seemed to mind too much (I'm horrible at golf, so I really didn't care. All I did was get fucked up and let sherm and his dad take care of the golf... they got pretty fucked up too though)

I voted for the Phoenix based on price, location, and the fact I have a wedding to attend on Oct. 23rd(as well as it being my bro's b-day). I would also like to put in a vote for Sept. 25th.

Also, I would probably be laughed off Longaberger when I showed up with my $200 Top Flite clubs...lol!

I am hoping to allow there to be at least a discount on booze.
