A Seattle TV station just confirmed that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are indeed going to leave the Big 12 and join the Pac 10. Everything will become official next Tuesday.

There is still no word on what Texas A&M will do. I think they are tired of being in the shadow of Texas and want to go on their own to the SEC.

No one knows what will happen to the remaining Big 12 schools. I have a particular interest in Missouri because their coach was a classmate of mine when we both attended Kent State. I hope they join the Big 10.

If this is true they will need to add one more. Look for the Big 10 to immediately jump to a 16 team league. I believe it will then be Notre Dame, Missouri, Syracuse. Not sure who the fourth will be. I actually hope it is Kansas making on heck of a Basketball conference also. Although the fourth could be A&M.

Pac 10 is getting greedy IMO. 16 teams is way too many. Taking OK State and Texas Tech must be a deal breaker for Oklahoma and Texas or something? Oklahoma St is acceptable I guess, but Texas Tech is probably on the decline. Neither of those schools are home runs.

How profitable do they expect to be with 16 teams? That seems like a lot of mouths to feed

If this does happen on Tuesday my guess is that the Pac-10 will hold out to see what happens with Texas A&M. If A&M ends up in the SEC then I would expect the Pac-10 to offer either Baylor or Kansas. If A&M is denied by the SEC then I expect them to get an invite from the Pac-10 which they would accept.

I think this will force the Big Ten to go to 16 teams (and not stop at 14 which I think may have been their preference all along). I would expect them to then offer Missouri, Rutgers, and either Syracuse or UConn. This would put them at 15 schools and would begin the demise of the Big East with two schools gone. Even if A&M doesn't end up in the SEC I would expect the SEC to have begun looking at adding Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, and either Virginia Tech or Clemson. This would cause the ACC to look to the Big Eat to expand to 16. This would essentially force Notre Dame into the Big Ten as the 16th team. If ND chooses to remain independent them I would expect the Big Ten to offer UConn, Syracuse, or maybe Pitt (whoever they didn't offer first) their 16th spot. The next few weeks should be fun to watch.

Still hoping that Texas will pull a fast one in the end and head to the Big Ten.

Some may call it crazy but it makes the most sense (and money) and the Texas AD and Chancellor are not stupid.

the Big 12 is clearly dead.

this is absolutely huge...the hugest transition in college football since the Gipper passed away, and they put away the leather helmets.

Missouri and W. VA would be great additions to the Big "10"....look for it to happen.

(Notre Dame would be fine, if we have to settle for 2nd best)...... yawwwwwn.

Why couldn't the Big XII go this route? Assuming Missouri goes to the Big Ten.

South Division
Arkansas (Replacing Nebraska)
Baylor
Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Christian (Replacing Missouri)
Texas Tech

North Division
Iowa State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Kansas State
Utah (Replacing Colorado)

BYU, Nevada, UNLV, Boise State, Arizona, Arizona State are all options if they wanted to go to 14. The biggest problem with the Big XII, and with any conference that looks to add Texas, is Texas. They strong-arm the opposition to gain contractual advantages which carry over onto the field. Only Oklahoma has the wherewithal and strength to counter them. That's why I placed them in the North Division.

According to the Seattle station, it is already a done deal that TX, Tech, OK, and OK State are going to the Pac 10. Everything will be finalized on Tuesday.

If the Big 12 held together in some form where was a decent revenue stream (which it won't), I could see Arkansas and A&M switching places. SEC isn't looking to expand, A&M wants to go to the SEC, and Arkansas somewhat regrets ever joining the SEC (the money is the only thing keeping them there).

I definitely won't "look for it to happen" because West Virginia has never been and will never be in the discussion for Big Ten expansion. Yes, they are a good fit geographically and they are good in football and basketball, but they bring NOTHING financially. In fact, they may lose the conference money instead of bring revenue in.

Do you know how many people it takes to fix a TV in West Virginia?

Umm, most of the 'breaking news' about conference realignment has come from Orangebloods.com, which is a blog site whose author is the former beat reporter from Dallas.

Considering it's a blog hosted by the newspaper would logically lead one to believe that it's a reporter who is using it as their personal sounding board without the need to neatly fit something into an article. Especially as the info is changing hourly.

ND is now forced to join the B10, will be a nice addition.

The tradition of OSU/MSU/Nebraska/ND/PSU is deep. Will be a great move to have a B10 championship game also.
