This starts Monday at 7 p.m. and continues through Wednesday, June 9

Washington again holds the No. 1 pick and they figure to select 17-year-old Bryce Harper

The Pirates are at No. 2 and according to Neal Huntington they're only considering three players -- SS Manny Machado, RHP Jameson Taillon or a college pitcher which Huntington did not specifiy. That last part is the drama and the potential screw up for the Bucs.

If they go with either of the high school prospects -- and are able to sign that player -- they should end up with a great prospect.

Machado is a 6'3 SS from Miami Brito High School. He's drawing comparisons to Alex Rodriguez. A five-tool prospect that should add significant power although he could end up filling out too much and moving from SS to 3B. He's represented by Scott Boras.

Taillon is a 6'7 right-hander from The Woodlands High School in Texas. He has a fastball that reaches 99 and two other plus pitches, a curve and slider. Pirates haven't had much luck with pitchers but if they're going to go in that direction this would be the right pick rather than a college pitcher.

There's a good right hander from Lakewood St. Ed, Stetson Allie.

He should go mid first round.

It was either Machado or Taillon

Pirates go with the pitcher

They need a big right hander at the top of the rotation. Question is can they develop him.

I mean its the same thing the Rays did years ago when they had a bunch of high picks, and now they panned out and now they're good.

Think about this one also, the Rays had taken Josh Hamilton before all the drugs and getting banned.

Can you tell me a little about him? I clicked on his name on the draft update on ESPN but you have to be an Insider. Saw he's LHP from Ole Miss...thats it

Pomeranz is one of the safest picks. He's very advanced and shouldn't take long to reach the big leagues.

He's 6'5" and throws a mid 90's fastball with a very good curve and a developing changeup. He was the SEC pitcher of the year.

He has good composure. Acts like a pro. Actually throws pretty hard for a left hander and can get strikeouts. I think he'll be steady, a 14-16 game winner.

I wouldn't have minded the Pirates taking Pomeranz but I think they needed to get a right hander.

Sounds good. So I'm kind of out of the loop,is Wimmers draft eligible? If so, what rd. are they predicting? His injury at the end of the year going to hurt his stock at all? Also, what about that catcher and pitcher combo from St. Ed's...are they draft probables? Read a few articles on them and their stats are pretty amazing...winning state doesn't hurt either.

MLB Network is broadcasting it as well if you get the channel.

I like the Tribes pick, just as I liked Alex White last year. Advanced college pitchers who wont take long. White is actually already pitching in AA and pitching very well. Those 2 guys should be pitching for the Tribe soon barring injuries as opposed to a high school kid.

Wimmers will go early...I'm hoping the Reds can get him at #12. He'll go somewhere around there.

Wimmers is in the draft. Should go in the first round.

The pitcher from St. Ed is Stetson Allie. He throws hard and is intense on the mound, but more like a closer than a starter.

I have been reading alot recently that Scott Boras is going to put the Kabosh on Harper playing catcher in the bigs because he feels it shortens careers and in turn hurts earning potential over the long haul.

Joe Mauer just cashed in, but in a way Boras is right that moving Harper to third or left/right field would probably put years on his career as they aren't nearly as demanding physically as playing catcher day in and out in the bigs.
