A man was murdered on a Japanese ship vessel at 2am in the morning.

Captain: I was sleeping when the incident happened.

Cook: I was cooking in the kitchen at that time.

Crew: I saw the flag was upside down; I was fixing the flag when the incident happened.

Guard: I was watching the sea the entire time in case of danger.

After hearing their alibis, the police immediately arrested the suspect. Who is the suspect? Why?

Bingo. Short lived thread FTW.

Got this in a email from a friend and it took me a minute to finally realize what the hell was going on.

This makes me think. I don't know if they still do it, but didn't ships used to use an upside down flag as a sign of distress? What would a Japanese ship do, then?

I'm not a Navy guy so I'm not sure. I do know the US flag is flow upside down as a sign of distress, but I don't know if that is the standard of all countries. Like the Union Jack, oh wait it's the same upside as right side up too ???

Shoot! I figured there had to be a reason it was a Japanese ship, but I wouldn't know the Japanese flag off the top of my head, either.

I was going to say the guard. It's 2AM, what can he see? And wouldn't he be guarding cargo? I thought it was the guys in the wheel house responsibility to watch the sea?

"Fixing the flag" sounds like a BS excuse you'd hear on Law & Order from a guy who just likes messing with the cops. Too obvious of a bad excuse to be taken any other way than messing with the cops. Might be the guy some jackass cop arrests, but I say they got the wrong man.

My first thought was immediately the cook guessing it's a man and only women should be in the kitchen cooking. Figured it was a woman joke. Now I feel terrible. LOL
