Where's the outrage, the Congressional hearings? Or is it not that big of a deal because this is a "U.S." company?

Any company not named GM will have congressional hearings anytime someone makes a claim. Government Motors will destroy the competition...in court...

A Ford spokesman, Said Deep, said the problem was due to drivers stacking all-weather mats on top of floor mats that come with the vehicle. Ford's all-weather mats have warnings advising customers not to pile them and to secure them properly to the floor, he said.
once again, looks like user error.

Trapped floor mats (driver issue)...mechanical error (automaker issue)...sure...I can see why we'd need congressional hearings for that. If it comes back as 'mechanical' and becomes as big of an issue as it was with Toyota...since it's not GM...you better believe there will be outrage and more Congressional hearings.

even with Toyota, did they ever actually find any mechanical error? i remember reading where none of the investigations were able to duplicate the stuck gas pedal.

If all there is to this are 'floor mats' then it is a tempest in a tea pot. Toyota's problem was that it was an enginneering problem, which makes the company responsible.
