When is the best time to thatch and even aerate your lawn??

I wouldn't de-thatch now, too much stress incurred on the turf, it should be done late fall. You can aerate anytime, but the best results are also going to be late fall (when most root development occurs).

I thatch rake in the early spring. As soon as the ground is dry enough. I want to get all the dead grass etc. off before I apply my first treatment of the spring. I have never aerated.

Aeration should be done spring and fall, if you only do it once, fall is better.
