In all seriousness, what are the cops like in Steubenville? Since I plan to move back this summer, I would like to know.

And is the crime as bad as people say? Or is that problem just in certain neighborhoods?

Steubenville cops are great. As long as you don't drive drunk into a police cruiser you won't ever come face to face with one (unless you plan to be selling crack or shooting people on Bellview or Pleasant Heights of course).

Three pages deep isn't an appropriate time to toss the "cool story bro" into the conversation...

This happened to me and my fiance last year in a nice little town called Rudolph.

Cop: License and Registration
Me: Yes officer
Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: No sir
Cop: Son what do you do for a living to be able to afford this car
Me: Excuse me? Can you tell me why you pulled me over?
Cop: I'll be back in a second
Cop: Son this car is registered to _______
Fiance: Yeah it's my dads car we just dropped him off at the Columbus Airport
Cop: Really?
Fiance: Here is my drivers license to show you.
Cop: Oh I see I guess you wouldn't be able to afford this then son.
Me: Actually my car is the model up, here is my business card if your looking for a better paying job.

This pissed this douchebag off but there was nothing he could do but get back in his car and drive off.

I've been living in Wood County for 56 years and my best friend lived outside of Rudolph for ever and if you were pulled over in Rudolph you had to have been speeding on one of the roads leading into Rudolph and your encounter would have had to be with a County Sheriff or an Ohio Highway Patrol officer because Rudolph has no police force, not even a single car, and haven't to my knowledge since at least 1954. That was the year we moved originally to Wood County from Virginia. Are you sure you were pulled over by a Rudolph cop, because if you were, you probably had a good chance of proving that he was either one of the two possibilities I already mentioned, or someone was impersonating a cop. When was this? as you probably already know, the various Ohio County Sheriff's Departments are highly professional, as are the folks who drive those Highway Patrol cars around. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just a tad curious.

The only other possibility I can think of would have been the chance that you were heading South and drove through Portage, where there used to be some very strictly enforced speed limits which have since been changed by the State of Ohio. Portage did used to have a police force and those cars would pursue speeders South on old 25 (Dixie Highway). Sometimes folks would turn on Mermil Rd. in an attempt to shake the cop (particularly at night) and it's only a mile from old 25 to beautiful downtown Rudolph. Other than that possibility, I am completely stumped.....unless of course, you were pulled over for no reason, but I can't imagine a Sheriff or a Highway Patrol officer doing that and it could not have possibly been a Rudolph cop. They do not exist.

It had to have been Portage then. Doesn't the town sit right off of 25?
