And will the main(left)stream media continue to bury it?

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=158617

It would not surprise me in the least if Sestak is telling the truth; I believe also that the few who probably made the difference in the health care vote were probably also offered 'security' in the event it cost them their jobs next election.

This stinks, at a bare minimum. But it is that new ....................... change we can believe in ...........

Hannity last night was laying out a case for impeachment last night if they can somehow connect the President to this. If the offer was made an a crime was committed, expect to see someone fall on their sword to protect the higher ups in the administration much like Scooter Libby did to protect Cheney. This is how politics work.

As an aside, the justice department has already said they will not be looking into or investigating this, so I am not sure how anything really substantive can come of this other than some political point scoring.

Morning Joe has been talking about it really the last few days. It sounds shady, but there is so much that is still unknown that it leaves a lot to the imagination. I honestly have no idea, but would not rule out such a deal.

This story is one example on why I hate politics. It is so shady sometimes, that no matter the truth the very idea is just awful. I wouldn't be surprised if Rahm or Axelrod made this offer. (I am not a fan of either of them btw and think they really hurt the President more than help) If they did, then they should get canned and possible legal penalty too.

But, much like Joe this morning, I would like to see more details before I make a firm opinion.

If they can prove the offer happened (very difficult) then Obama has a real problem on his hands. And if he knew about it (I can't imagine someone with his ego NOT knowing everything that's going on), I could see this at least being talked about in impeachment terms.

My prediction: They'll find enough smoke to prove at least an ember of truth exists and Emanuel will be made to fall on the sword. It accomplishes two things: takes the heat of Obama and gets rid of Emanuel.

Same reason they didn't want to be bothered with the New Black Panthers regarding that voting location in Philadelphia: Politics

Well, isn't he the one who was supposedly offered the job?

Seems like he already needs to have the proof or he never will have it, as he above anyone else would know the specifics, considering he was the one offered the job.

yeah but it doesnt sound like he even considered it. meaning somone could have called him, told him the offer and he said no. had he first gave it some consideration, i am sure he would have asked what guarantee he would have etc.

BS quote of the year:
"We assure you that the Department of Justice takes very seriously allegations of criminal conduct by public officials. All such matters are reviewed carefully by career prosecutors and law enforcement agents, and appropriate action, if warranted, is taken," Weich wrote in the letter.
I've got to believe that someone is telling Sestak, "You idiot! What were you thinking coming forward with that?" The fact that he won't say anything further leads me to believe that someone did commit a crime here.

Yeah, but, would he have even said it in the first place if he didn't have anything to back it up?

If he didn't have any "proof", he would know that saying something very inflammatory like that would come back to haunt him; probably sooner than later. Not to mention he would be unelectable at that point.

So, much like everybody else, all I can do is speculate until somebody else comes forward or some "thing" is released.

Why does Quaker get to bypass the rule that people have to provide some sort of context/opinion along with the links they post? :D

Or is that only with the thread starters? :D

*edit* Doh, he just posted a link with a comment. :D

We have accepted as a people public deals in congress that many of us would consider "bribes". I personally despise them. This kind of thing on the other hand is quite a bit different. Closed door bribes of this kind will not be taken well by the public. Depending on the details this is quite potentially criminal behavior.

Sestak is either:

1. A bald-faced liar, or.....

2. Willingly protecting a felon in the administration.

Either way, Toomey has no shortage of ammo to work with.

I also wonder if whoever offered Sestak the "job" was offended at Sestak's refusal and continued pursuit of the senate seat. Perhaps some "bad blood" exists and other kinds of political threats were made to Sestak. Rahm, for instance is know for these kinds of things, he does not take no for answer.

Perhaps this is Sestak's way of pushing back a little. He drops a nugget to the press to show he means business, with the thought back off or I will give them more. Who knows?

From Obama's presser yesterday...

“There will be an official response shortly on the Sestak matter,” Obama said, when asked about the issue by Fox News at the president’s press conference. “I mean shortly — I don’t mean weeks or months. … I can assure the public that nothing improper took place.”

Got that.....shortly.

The mind boggles...you're the President, the leader, the great uniter, the post-partisan President....give a response right then and there.

So it's either 1) true or 2) he's trying to downplay it and distance himself.

If the offer was made, it had to be high-level enough for Sestak to drop out...and thus, would have at least required Obama to have basic knowledge of it.
