Even though he is a free agent, Bosh has apparently given the Raptors a list of 5 teams he would like to do a sign and trade with (so he can make more money of course) should Toronto decide they would rather get something for him than nothing if he just walks.

The list of five teams -- Toronto plus the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and New York Knicks, sources said -- was given to Toronto management in case the Raptors want to construct a sign-and-trade deal (assuming Bosh doesn't re-sign with Toronto).

Of course it was quick to point out Lebron's decision will weigh on where he wants to go, but apparently Toronto is open to the idea because they want a big man to replace him with if he absolutely won't sign with them.


I somehow don't see any circumstance in which Gilbert would go for that if Lebron essentially told him the same thing Bosh is the Raptors as far as doing a sign and trade. Even if it makes sense from the standpoint of getting some high level talent back potentially I just couldn't see them assisting Lebron in leaving town even though it would be best for the franchise if he just won't stay (to get something rather than nothing).

Sources are saying it happened. Bosh and his agent have yet to say it's true. I think Toronto works with Bosh because they see the sense in him leaving. I see Gilbert playing hardball because he can't let the best leave. If he leaves, it'll be interesting to see which one blinks first.

This is EXACTLY what I was saying on one of the other Lebron threads. Lebron has done a lot for the city but Gilbert has bent over BACKWARDS for Lebron (new facilities, bringing in players he wanted, etc). Gilbert may bend over backwards but I don't see him bending over forwards.

I could see Cleveland getting Bosh, especially if and when Lebron stays.

What would you give up to make it work?

Cleveland isn't getting Bosh. They don't have any pieces that Toronto would want. I'd KILL to dump Mo Williams though.

Any decent FA point guards this year? I would have to agree 100% on this. An upgrade here is a NEED! I thought I heard somewhere NO may look to deal Chris Paul?? Although we have nothing to give up for him.

Bosh's agent has denied it now. Figured they wouldn't go public with this, if they even did it at all.

If Bosh did a sign and trade with Chicago who would Chicago give up Noah? That would be a pretty good team with Rose, James and Bosh.

I doubt Chicago would give up Noah since he's so cheap, Toronto can't be too selective. The salaries have to be close so you can pretty much guarantee Deng would be the biggest part of the trade. My guess would be a package including Deng, Taj Gibson, bulls first round pick.

I'd be very surprised if the Heat doesn't come out on top after all the dust settles. One...if not two...of the premium FA's will be in Miami, and 2011 playoff run will look much different than it does this year...largely because Ray Allen will be in the nursing home.

winner winner. Nobody wants to come to Cleveland in any sport. I've been saying that on here for months now. And once Lebron leaves, nobody will give a crap about the Cavs anyway.

No, obviously they'd like to keep Bosh, but if Bosh opts out and wants to go somewhere else, they'd rather get Mo, Delonte, Hickson, something rather than nothing.

I doubt it happens too, but Bosh wants to play with Lebron, so I could Ferry pulling a rabbit out of the hat like he has before.

You can do a sign and trade with a draft pick, but you then need to take on salaries equal to the value of the traded player. Salaries always have to match in the end, but you are allowed how ever many deals it takes to do that. If Toronto does a sign and trade with Bosh they can take that max contract and divvy the value up and sign 3 or 4 different players. A sign and trade is still a trade and matching salaries applies.

S/T's must come within a certain amount of each total amount of salary being traded.

Bosh can be traded to a team giving Toronto multiple players and picks. But those players/picks must come close to Bosh's total salary.

I think Jalen Rose said it perfectly. This Cleveland teams was built around what LeBron wanted. If he does leave, why would Cleveland do a sign and trade to bring in players to play with guys that were brought in for LeBron. Cleveland is better off blowing the team up, saving money and going out to get players they want to build the team around. Unless they get the perfect S/T situation that gives them what they truly want, I don't see Cleveland doing it especially Gilbert.

If LeBron does stay, which I think he will, Cleveland may work a S/T for a big player (hopefully a TRUE point guard) using anyone but LeBron on the roster as trade bait.
