Lets get the sweep. @Atlanta sucks but after that @Clev, Pitt and Houston. They should be able to take 2-3 in those 3 series. If they can do well at Atlanta, they have a chance to open up a little room.

I know losses happen, but IMO the Reds should sweep those 3 series' with ease. They can't play down to their comp and expect to compete come August and September.

Sweeps are tough and icing on the cake in any 3 game set.......but the end of the year ya need to beat the Houstons, Pitts and low level teams 2 out of each 3 games on a whole...and play .500 ball vs teams like the Cards and top teams. Some times ya may sweep em....some times win 1 of the three. A sweep plus one win outta the three games is the same as winning 2 of 3 both times.

So..as fans ya cannot put a ton of stock into one particular series. They will have times they will lose 2 of 3 to a bad team.

shit happens.

but what the team cannot afford is a long losing streak..or losing like 3 three game sets in a row. Its a marathon season and all teams will go into some slumps....the key is righting them quickly. Kinda like the diff between a good and bad starting pitcher A good one does good damage control in his bad innings and buckles down and gives up only 2 runs in his worst inning....where bad pitchers who have "just one bad inning" (btw..i hate when that is used as an excuse) dont have good damage contorl and allows a 4+ spot

^^^^

this pretty much explains it perfectly.

I don't take a whole lot in these 2 game mini sets they've started putting on the schedule. You obviously can't lose em both but if you sweep em, great, if you split em, great

Yeah I'm not saying its make or break or anything is the sweep happens or doesn't; just saying that those are three series' the Reds can and should, IMO, sweep. Butt you guys are right as long as they WIN those type of series' they will be right in the thick of things come August and September.

Same here. Looks like Gamecast will have to work.

Ouch, 31 pitch, 3 hit, 2 ER 1st inning for Bailey. At least Heisey lead off the Reds' half with a walk.

Jonny Gomes scores Heisey from first on an RBI double. Gomes on 3rd after an error.

Gomes has been HUGE lately. 2 bad B Phill and Votto had to K in front of him.

Anyone know what parra's pitch count limit is today? I can't imagine it being more than about 75-80.

I doubt Parra goes more than another inning, maybe try to get him through five. The Reds have had some good, long at-bats against him.

Bruce now up to .277, he's not getting homers or rbi's but I'm glad he figured out he needed to change his ways to help the team.

I'm definitely good with anything over .275 for Bruce!
