Great, great singer. I was asking my girlfriend this morning how his battle with cancer was going when we were watching one of those VH1 "top 100 metal songs of all time." Guess I know now.

I remember when he was talking about throwing up the horns in an interview one time and he said his grandma did that to him when he was little.

Message from Wendy Dio
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

Very sad. I heard the hoax death report this morning, so it REALLY sucks to see another report now that actually is true...

Ronnie was one of the greatest voices in metal while also being one of the greatest people. Every interview I've seen him do he seems incredibly indebted to the fans and all of the great people he's been around over his time. I'll be busting out some Heaven and Hell as well as some Holy Diver and Rainbow in the Dark in salute of a true music icon.

Very good voice. Listening to Holy Diver right now. We have a street in my town named DEO Drive. It used to be a prank to put an I over the E. Might have to do that in his memory tonight.

Always sad to see a person die, especially a person who obviously impacted so many lives. That's evident from the reaction here alone. Howbeit, I heard of the man for the first time about a minute ago.
