As a resident of Metro Detroit I can tell you without a doubt that the worst city IS Detroit. I give Mayor Dave Bing all the credit in the world for his proposal to shrink the city.

Another city soon to be on the "worst" list is Toledo. It is getting worse all the time.

Has there ever been a clearer attempt at trolling?

I wouldn't call it trolling, but from what I've read here that's what I'm gathering

Like I said, if you pick Cleveland or Youngstown...it's obvious you haven't traveled much.

There is a reason a lot of tv shows make fun of Detroit.....

The more I live in Michigan and the more I go to Detroit for one thing or another the more I like Detroit, but the more I think it's a shit hole.

Um, it is pretty well-known throughout the U.S. that, if you're talking larger cities, a lot of the rust belt places like Cleveland and Youngstown are in pretty bad shape at the moment.

And yea, of course, Detroit, Flint, etc., are also in terrible shape at the moment, but it isn't like Cleveland, YTown, etc., are that far off.

New Jersey has it's fair share of issues as well.

But, at this point, it is pretty much a wash. Lots of cities in terrible shape and it is really hard to distinguish between the "bad" and the "worst."

Warren is actually worse than Youngstown, but to say Youngstown isn't in the discussion is wrong. And actually, they aren't even the worst within the area--East Liverpool might be the biggest shithole in Ohio.

I'll throw a vote for Gary, Indiana though. The worst parts of Cleveland are the best parts of Gary, Indiana. And Detroit blows Cleveland out of the water. I doubt Cleveland is even in the top 10 realistically.

I'm sure there is some crap-hole city in New Jersey that can rival these two, but I would never set foot in New Jersey, therefore I could never find out.
If you ever want to see Lebron play a home game again, you are going to have to :)

Seriously though, you are usually a pretty good poster Scarlet, and this post resembles one from some of the less-educated folks on here. There is a reason why NJ residents make the most income (or Top 3, it always fluctuates) in the U.S. - some really gorgeous parts and affluent neighborhoods. I wouldn't base your opinion on the Sopranos and Jersey Shore.
Thanks for the kind words BigApple. I guess I am basing my opinion largely off of my experience last summer spend in Manhattan, where no one had a kind word to say about NJ. Like I said, I've never been, but I've heard it is extremely polluted and that there is a reason why the city of NY sends all its trash to NJ and they accept it.

Just saying. I could be wrong. You're closer to the situation so you probably know a lot more than I do.
Don't get me wrong nobody teases BigAppleBuckeye about his NJ ties more than I do. But he is right NJ is home to a lot of very affluent neighborhoods as well as some shit holes just like every other state in our great nation.

As far as the garbage thing goes, NYC used to send a lot it to Staten Island, and trust me that borough sure got a bad stigma from that as well. But it still had some beautiful parts as well.

Where NYC sends its waste is very much a matter of politics and I'm pretty sure those areas accepting it are getting some decent kickbacks for doing so. It's all part of the game.

Uhh no. Not in a long shot. Been to both, many times. Y-town is way more sketch, run down, and more dangerous than Warren.

LMAO, I obviously frequent the area far more often than you do. Currently, Warren is definitely worse than Youngstown.

Are you kidding me? Youngstown is way worse than Warren. Warren is actually pretty nice in a lot of areas, especially on the east side. The comparison of the downtowns isn't close. While Youngstown isn't the worst city in America, it's definitely worse than Warren. Take it from someone who LIVES there.

But you know what major city is really turning into a dump? Chicago. The unemployment rates and the crime rates are skyrocketing.

Cleveland isn't that bad. I love it at least. And how the hell are Detroit sports teams on the upswing while Cleveland teams aren't? You're an idiot.
Ah, lose LBJ and what ya got? The Indians? Browns? No hockey, even tried that once...losers. No LeBron.....soon no Cavs. Pistons will rebound. Cavs? Gilbert losses way too much. Who would buy that franchise?

Even if LeBron goes the Cavs won't be leaving Cleveland. No way the city lets another team leave...
