"Changed my life" is a pretty high standard. For one reason or another, I'd probably have to go with these twelve.
Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
Tunnel of Love - Bruce Springsteen
The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle - Bruce Springsteen
Darkness on the Edge of Town - Bruce Springsteen
Greatest Hits - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Greatest Hits - Credence Clearwater Revival
Vs. - Pearl Jam
Vitalogy - Pearl Jam
Live - James Taylor
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Concert in the Park (essentially, Graceland & Rhythm of the Saints, live) - Paul Simon
Greatest Hits - Simon & Garfunkel

add soundgarden and that was the list I was gonna post. Nirvana are nothing special they just happen to be the band that caught on, if it wasn't them it woulda been someone else.

While Nirvana was good and all...acting like they were the one and only successful grunge band is kinda weird. During the heyday of grunge, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and STP were all considered part of that genre. To act like they weren't considered grunge is some really interesting revisionist history that completely disregards how those groups were labeled while active and at their peak.
Now it's up to you to decide. Did this change my life for the better?

Nevermind by Nirvana. Even though I was only 1 year old when it came out, it definitely changed my life once I discovered it when I was 13. Such a great album that became the anthem of my adolescence.
+1 ...
I remember the first time I heard Nirvana's "Nevermind." I was at a high school party, and every song just blew me away. I remember immediately buying the album the next day, and I was hooked. Just something about that band that really struck a cord with me, and today remains my favorite band of all time. I know they had earlier albums (which I bought and love, including an underrated "Bleach") -- but Nevermind changed the way I listened to music.

E. 1999 Eternal - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (What can be said about the greatest album ever released by a rap group. It's the Mona Lisa of street rhyme)
The End - Three Six Mafia (Not sure it changed my life, with its mystical and satanical lyrics, but it got me deeper into rap)
Life After Death - The Notorious B.I.G. (I have probably listened to Biggie/Jay Z's "I Love the Dough" more than any other rap song in my lifetime)
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind (Probably the ultimate "relationship"-oriented album you can find. There are many others, but none are better at pouring salt onto bitter wounds, which isn't always pleasant)
Urban Hymns - The Verve (An absolute classic from these Britain legends, which, sadly, might have released their last album)
There are a few more I could list, releases from Coldplay, Keane, Tupac, Radiohead and even lesser known artists such as Rappin' 4-Tay, but that could take all day.

I liked Nirvana, maybe not as much as I did Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. But to me it was an album that changed my life. I was not really into the grunge stuff until Nirvana went mainstream. It was Nevermind that made me and millions of others go looking for other grunge bands and bands from the Seatle music scene. They were not the first grunge band and they did not invent it, but they were the band that brought it to mainstream radio.

Alligator by The National back in 2005.
When it came out, I was in college and it changed what I thought music should be and it found me right where I was. Mr. November and Abel were brain-emptying experiences the first time I heard them. First time I heard it, I finished lisenting and I just sat there stunned, like someone had just shot me.
