I'm guessing the 100 Pirate fans who were still at the game have left by now. LOL

Cueto has 90 pitches thru 8, and with one of the two baserunners(both times the runner was Cedeno) erased on a "strike em out, throw em out DP" to end the 6th, Cueto has only faced one over the minimum number of batters thru 8.

So Cueto is blowing his one hit complete game opportunity by starting out 3-0 on Cedeno.

What an unbelievable game from Cueto, and from the entire team top to bottom. Cueto hasn't looked that sharp since his first career start 2 years ago. Everyone contributing.....DAMN this team is fun to watch when they're winning!

Lead-off spot in the order gets on 4 times, and the first five hitters all have 2-3 hits and with walks, get on 15 times, and the top three in the order score 7 times.

Heisey started, played RF and hit 7th in the win last Monday night in NY. He went 0/5 at the plate.

Quietly, Cueto is now 2-1 with a 4.07 ERA on the year. He has gone his last 20 innings and only allowed 5 ER while striking out 19 and walking only 3. Lets hope Bailey can follow suit tomorrow afternoon as the Reds go for the sweep.

2 games out of the central and 1.5 out of the wildcard.

Obviously with the typical results the Cardinals have, I'm going to go on a limb and say if we get in, we should aim for that wildcard spot.

Would love to see the cards lose again today and the redsfinush the sweep off. Making this weekend a huge early season series. Get some big crowds down there. Obviuosly Saturday will be sold out but hopefully the other two games can draw bug crowds too

My fear with St. Louis is NOT their current roster. It's that they will go out and make a BIG deal to secure the division. As it stands, their bullpen is garbage and their rotation, outside of the big 2 is still being pieced together. Sure, they have Albert and Holliday, but outside of that, their lineup is shaky, and they are far weaker than the Reds on the infield (when both teams are 100%). Add to this, the Reds have shown they can play with the Cards this season, unlike year's past.

With that said, the Reds need to hold it together for another 8 weeks and then if it's still close in the Central and wild card, they have to be aggressive and make a move. They have far more assets to acquire a couple players than the Cardinals, who have almost nothing not in the majors to deal. The Reds on the other hand have a very deep system with a dozen prospects who are all valuable, but not necessarily can't miss (outside of Chapman and possibly Wood/Alonso/Heisey) at this point.

Should be an interesting May and June for a team who historically begins to slip at this point. Maybe the mentality (I believe it is) of this team is different and not going to go down as easily.

The cards actually have a better fielding percentage then the reds. Cards are 2nd and reds are 3rd. In the end I agree with you, the reds infield is better.

Overall, it's far better. Cabrera > Ryan, Phillips > Schumaker and for now, Rolen > Freese (although it could change by year's end). Obviously Pujols is far better than anyone, but Votto is one of probably 3 in the NL who isn't too far behind. Quite honestly, Hanigan + Hernandez over 162 games is probably as good as Molina + LaRue as well, maybe better overall.
