I don't really have much issue with that. Feinting on the ball is unfair in my book, doing in the run-up should always be allowed.

For him? Sure. But thats because he doesnt manage an international team. If it is any other reason than that, well he is a moron.
Exactly. Mourinho is a well known attention whore. He's always making ridiculous comments.

I don't know if Jose is really that desperate of an attention whore. I just think that he takes so much pleasure in pissing off and infuriating his peers that he says outlandish things get reactions from them

Germany has had a definite slug to the gut with Ballack going down...
having said that...

the prohibitive favorites remain intact...
Spain
Brazil
Netherlands
England?
Italy
Argentina

the US getting a draw with England would be a near-miracle. We could only hope it would excite the soccer world in the US.
probably not., however.

for a country that prides itself on dominating professional sports, you would expect the world cup to bring out a lot of closet fans or at least pretender fans so we have at least a decent following.

Besides that point favorites are Spain and Brazil, with Argentina as my sleeper just because of one person.

Got waxed in the knockout round. The online feature are awesome on the new game. In WC mode you choose a country and wins go towards that country's point total and it keeps track of everyone online. So it randomly adds you to a group and then go from there.

I have no idea how but Algeria is #1 right now and Japan #2.

A bit off topic but this is an interesting article about how far in debt La Liga is:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=788913&sec=europe&cc=5901

They'd better get their books in line or risk the same fate that crippled Serie A, which is just now starting to climb out of it's hole.

Yeah, its not good. 2 teams make a profit who will be back next year. The 3rd team was relegated. Valencia will certainly have a much better chance with the sales of Silva and Villa, as will Sevilla with 2 straight CL pay-checks. But the rest of the league is in some serious trouble.

Ever since "GIVE US, US FREE!" Ive been scared of that man. Then when he went ape shit in Blood Diamond I knew my thoughts were warranted.

Inter 2 or 3 to nil. But Ill be rooting my ass off for the opposite outcome!

BTW, if anyone doesnt understand the "Total Football" theory watch the Netherlands clip on the link I posted. It explains what it is and how it came to be. Johan Cruyff brought it to Barcelona after he played in it for the Dutch and after Ajax perfected it (winning the European Cup). It is my favorite style of soccer, so I try to plug it often :D. Simply a joy to watch that style. Barcelona is the only team I think that plays that way outside of Netherlands (in the major leagues at least).

Arsenal plays a style of it, depends who they have on though, but yeah Barca is the only team I know that solely plays that style.

Cryuff turn was the first "move" I learned in my brief intramural soccer days lol

yeah, that is such a sick, yet extremely easy to execute, move. YOur right I did forget about Arsenal to an extent. Not quite complete Total Football, but it is a style of it. Especially thier forwards/mids being intertwined. With Barca, you really see it as all 4 defenders make runs with and without the ball into the opposing teams 18 yard box.
