What I was saying that you could switch a few things around, putting gattuso or someone like that in the central back and they will not be punished nearly as much as cote

De Rossi has shown he is capable in an offensive role when he plays for "la Nazionale" but I worry about his consistency because he is asked to play more of a defensive role with Roma. Camoranesi is hurt but he's a straight winger, Zambrotta has played in the midfield but leaving his left back spot would leave a huge hole in Italy's defense.

Drogba is going to have surgery and hopes to be fit in 10 days.

It was almost scandalous........FIFA should have honored Ireland's request for a replay of that game.

Drogba news is good, and honestly, it shouldnt be a problem. I played with a broken wrist in HS 2 days after I broke it. Just put a cast on it and you are the one in control lol. Granted an arm is a little bit more painful and tougher to avoid contact than a wrist, but you can immobilize a broken bone and still play soccer. He really should be perfectly fine.

As for the France Ireland match....the missed handball was atrocious. BUT, Ireland still needed to score or win in PKs to advance. It wasnt as if the goal DIRECTLY kept them out, but I understand the obvious outcry over it.

Anyone watching the USA game? Buddle scores early on an Australian giveaway. The field looks worse than my high school field.

This is getting out of hand. The amount of stars that will miss the WC is kind of depressing to a point.

Good news for the Dutch, but I'm not sure he'll play and if he does, how effective will he be now?

Nani will miss the World Cup.

Add his name to a list of depressing omits from the WC.

That's rough for Portugal. This is turning into the episode of the Simpsons with the power plant softball team. I'm fully expecting Eto'o to show up with a grotesquely swollen jaw due to nerve tonic overdose.

(Insert clever Nani Nani boo boo joke here).

I can't say I'm too disappointed that he won't be playing either. It is a blow to Portugal though.
