Because in the 1st round they came together and were as healthy as they've been all season. When it came time to play the Suns, Parkers injuries came back around and then you have Manu's nose which CLEARLY affected him. The Lakers got lucky with their road to the Finals. That's not good for the EC representative.
Look at the matchups. The Suns are essentially the same team the Lakers just played, except they match up worse than the Jazz do.
