Friend of mine just texted me and said "There are cops everywhere and choppers overhead, I'm still sitting in class, WTF"

There was nothing major at all. Choppers fly over UC several times daily, almost all of them bound for University Hospital which is the primary, if not only, level I trauma center in the area. And cops, well cops are around UC constantly. UCPD is either the second or third largest police force in Hamilton country. Can't remember which.

UCPD has jurisdiction throughout the county if I am not mistaken from what my bro told me, who went to UC.

I don't think that is correct. My wife is asleep or else I would ask her. I could be wrong, though. I usually am.

Maybe just in the city limits of Cincy, I can't remember what he told me. He was pretty active in the UC community and what not; I remember talking about it one night at friends of his' party. It was technically off campus, but they were talking about campus PD being able to show up or something.

Legally speaking they have jurisdiction just on the east and west campuses of UC. The CPD grants them jurisdiction to a small area surrounding campus which they patrol almost exclusivly. I think maybe one or two blocks in any direction. It's not uncommon to see UCPD arresting people who are quite clearly not UC students off campus. I know that the UCPD is on the same radio frequency as the CPD and can make arrests beyond that two block buffer zone if they are the nearest respondent. They might have jurisdiction throughout the city, but not the obligation to respond beyond the immediate campus area.
