How the fuck is this "Caps/Pens styles/games are different" idea you keep pressing even remotley relevant to what he's saying??? When did he ever mention anything about the Caps /Pens playing the same game???
No shit the Caps/Pens aren't the same style. The point he is making is not that. It's that Montreal has played good defense agianst both (despite they are two different styles). You are one thick son of a cunt.....
Montreal has played good defense? LMAO!!!!!! What fucking series have you been watching? Pittsburgh has severely outshot them and have had second chances galore. Halak is in no man's land, half the time he doesn't know where the puck is and it's NOT because his defense is clearing them away, Pens can find the net. It's not even close to what happened in that Caps series, they shot the shit out of it and never crashed the net for second chances, Pittsburgh is clearly doing that. Everyone wants to make that comparison when it couldn't be farther from the truth, the Pittsburgh players know they're playing the right way they just can't cash in on those scrums aropund the net and especially the wide open chances Halak is giving up. It's just a matter of time.
The Caps out shot them too. The number of shots doesn't reflect a good or bad defense. It is the quality shots and the opportunity for rebounds.
Again, I see the Pens winning in 6, but the Habs are in their head, even if Sid doesn't say so. You can see it on the ice as they are overthinking everything (missed open shots).
Yes, they have traffic in the front, yes they are missing open shots, but the Habs defense is also deflecting, stopping, and annoying the Pens when they are close.
It is not the Pens skating rings around the Habs. It is the Habs playing to their strength, a bend but don't break defense.
The Pens are good, much better than the Habs, but the Habs are even in the series because they are in the Pens head (like it or not) and the Habs defense is pretty damn good.
Sidenote, I've been talking about this thread to a couple buddies of mine, one a huge, huge Ducks and the other a Sharks fans and hockey fans in general. They agree with me. That the Habs defense is good and is the main reason why the series is tied.
