I may be the last person to NOT use Firefox. So tell me,

1) Why should I use it (other than because IE sucks)?

and

2) Can I use both IE and Firefox while I'm transitioning? Any known problems with doing that?

You can use both.

I use it because it is supposedly more secure than IE. Also there are alot of different plugins you can use.

I have IE, Firefox, and Chrome all installed at the same time and I use them all for different things but Firefox is my primary.

The learning curve is probably about 10 minutes and after a week you'll wonder why you didn't switch sooner.

Its more secure and offers updates quite often that protect you. It has a much better built in ad-block system.

You can use them both if you want, but really there will be no reason to do so.

I prefer Safari, but Firefox is more efficient than IE. VERY user friendly.

Thanks guys.... just downloaded. Like the ad blocker! Seems to be a lot faster too! Oh!, the inline spell check is awesome

Don't like the bookmark menu though... very clumsy, but I'll get used to it I suppose

Anything else cool about Firefox I should know? Thanks for all the help!

It has a massive catalog of add-ons and extensions that let you do more with your browser.

For example, I have an add on that tells me how many emails are in my gmail inbox and notifies me of new mail in real time.

I also have a great weather add-on that has the current, and next two days weather displayed as well as a radar if I mouse over it.

Spell checking is built into Firefox. You'll think this won't be a big deal until you use it for a while and then have to use a browser without it.

There are a host of other reasons too. Why don't you just download it and try it for yourself? Using Firefox doesn't prohibit or change your IE installation.

Edit: If you don't like the bookmark menu then I'm sure there's an extension that could suit your needs. Just search around here.

I am pretty sure that this is the only time in the history of the world that this has been said.

Don't use firefox, use chrome. It is much more user friendly. I made the switch on the first day chrome came out, and I haven't gone back.

Go to Firefox. Avoid IE like the plague. Opera is also good. When Safari and Chrome allow customizable interfaces and add-on's, I'll give them a look..

You need to find a new ISP.

I use Chrome. Once I started using it, the others seemed so sloooooooow.

Firefox is great and my main reason for using it is because it is so much faster than IE. I only occasionally use IE and only when its for something that won't display in Firefox or displays better in IE. I also love the fact that I can have an OSU/Jim Tressel skin for my FF browser.

I tried Chrome and never saw that great of an advantage over FF. I also use Google for web searches, email, blogging, etc. I don't really need them knowing every single webpage I visit too.

I use Safari and Firefox too. Firefox is a little more user friendly, plus I can play my msn games on it. I can't do that on Safari.
