I would say in his first 2-3 years in the league he benefitted from the system in place there. Now they have built the system around him and his skill set.

He's in the perfect system for his skill set. If he would have come into the league with the Lions, Browns or Rams, I don't think he's the household name that he is today. Just my opinion....

I think you could say that about just about every QB in the league. Guys like Ben or Brady came into the league on a good team. Guys like Peyton Manning following the Troy Aikman path of being drafted by a bad team with good management that very quickly assembled the proper complementary pieces. Their first year might have been forgettable, but due to great talent evaluation, they had strong teams around them very quickly.

But teams like the Lions, Browns, Raiders, etc. have been plagued by horrible management decisions over the past number of years. They have revolving doors for their coaches and GMs and don't seem to have had cohesive, consistent plans for moving forward. I wonder from time to time if guys like Tim Couch and Joey Harrington really flat-out sucked or if they were ruined by the team that drafted them and could have been a good-to-great QB if they'd been on a better team.
