One thing I can't stand is friggin' beer snobs. It's beer. You open it, then you drink it. Yes, count me in the, "it's beer so I'll drink it category". I remember talking with some guy at a bar recently and he was reciting all these beers like Bluecandlebuttershnitzengrubenflaglflaybee beer and it was the greatest thing ever and you know it tastes like total shit, but it's beer. I wanted to hit him, but I was enjoying my Old Milwaukee draft. I was waiting for him to tell me it was great to drink while listening to The White Stripes or some other terrible indie type band.

And ps: Yes, I like Yuengling...not because I can't get it, but because it's beer.

pps: yes, this should have went in the yuengling thread.

I am a beer snob, but many beer snobs like IPAs, really hoppy beers. I can't stand those. I am more of a european type beer snob. Give me a nice 52* pint of Brains S.A. and I will be happy

haha i went to a place like that last night. i didnt realize it at first and asked for a Labatt Blue. then after a strange look the bartender gave me a list of the beers they had. it was like trying to read russian to me because every beer they had was their own brew. so putting my manhood aside i had the girl i was with school me on beer.

LJ wrote: I am a beer snob, but many beer snobs like IPAs, really hoppy beers. I can't stand those.
yeah i had one of those last night for the first time, took me like forever to drink because the taste was so strong.

I concur... Yes I am a beer snob. I hope others keep drinking that fizzy yellow stuff that way I can have more of the GOOD beer.

BORIS, I just tried some DORIS the Destroyer the other day. (Great stuff)

LOL, I'll drink the fizzy yellow stuff and guzzle like a beast to get drunk. If I want something that tastes good, I'll have a Coke.

Most of that other stuff tastes like shit anyways. Mixing beer with shit that it shouldn't be mixed with doesn't make it good.

Your last line "mixing" beer with shit, I'm more for saying MAKING beer with shit....RICE, ala Budweiser.

SQ, believe me the beer today is nothing like the beers were prior to Prohibition. Now days the massed produced Big Boys is a watered down version of what it used to be.

I guess there isn't a point if you don't get it....Well I can't type slower so I'll use a different analogy.

Don't give me a Budweiser and tell me it's how Germans make their Lager. Much like don't serve me Olive Garden and tell me it's as it the same Italian food I'd get in Italy. Or Taco Bell is 'real' Mexican food. If I want a good beer I'll pay more and buy it, much like I'd rather go to a nice Italian Restaurant and pay more for a better meal. (I don't do Mexican food...or beers)

You can like what ya like. I just prefer my beer to be made with wheat, barley, or even rye...not Rice.

That's just me and luckily I can afford to buy flavorful beers and food.

haha i just cant do it. the after taste of the beer ruins the taste of the food. plus i tend to drink a lot of whatever i have while i eat. so drinking beer and eating isnt economical and it would get me hammered before i finish my food haha.

Yeah thats the reason I don't usually drink beer with food. I tend to drink like a horse when I'm eating so it's just pointless unless I'm also trying to get drunk. But I love a beer with some steak.

And Curly, to each his own, I personally don't care what anyone drinks. But I just think it's funny that people say they're drinking this beer or that beer because it tastes good. That's fine, you like the taste but unless you're drinking to at least get a buzz then you just got this BS idea in your head that drinking a beer makes you look like a badass. Because if you aren't trying to get a buzz and you want to drink something that tastes good, you aren't picking beer.

Don't tell me what I do and don't think tastes good

I have plenty of beer in my fridge that I will drink 1 because I think it tastes good.

I'll stand by what I said. If you're going to pick one drink for taste, you're lying if you pick any beer in the world. I don't believe anyone that tells me that any beer is their favorite taste unless maybe it's root beer.

Drink anything for taste? I've given up soda and cow's milk (the latter was tougher), even if I still drank soda I'd rather have a Guinness than any soft drink. I like some juices ok, and I could probably drink a gallon of chocolate milk a day - assuming I didn't give it up, but aside from water and green tea which I drink more for hydration, I'd drink a lot of beers over anything else for taste...and as mentioned above especially Guinness. I could swill that stuff like an elephant draining a waterhole.

Anyone who is asked to give their favorite tasting liquid and they list a beer is a liar.

I love beer. But that's going a bit far.
