the odds of them getting hurt playing in the game are pretty slim.

its a dangerous world out there:

-Tom Glavine, then with the Atlanta Braves, broke a rib when he threw up an in-flight meal on an airplane.
-Former NHL goaltender Glenn Healy missed time between the pipes after he cut his finger while attempting to repair bagpipes.
-Arizona kicker Bill Gramatica suffered a season-ending injury when he hurt his knee celebrating a successful field goal.
-Hall of Famer George Brett broke his toe when he tripped running from the kitchen to the living room to watch a baseball game replay of himself on TV.
-Sammy Sosa had to go on injured reserve when he hurt his back while sneezing.
-Latrell Sprewell broke his hand when he tripped and fell of his yacht in 2002.
-Tony Gwynn fractured a finger when he slammed his car door on his hand.

so they should sit the first 3 games of each series? because it doesnt matter whether they win or lose those games right? aslong as they win the last 4. i mean, it would suck to get hurt for the rest of the playoffs in game 1 of the opening series.

The talk about LBJ not playing these games will be over in two or three days. His being injured and missing playoff games costing the team a chance for a title would be a subject for eternity.

I guess I see this differently , I see this as the athletes due owe the fans something. Athletes are on the same level as entertainers they are paid big money to play the respective sport and entertain. They should do what they are paid to do and entertain. If the athlete has a legit injury than yea sit out but if they are sitting out to not get hurt IMO thats kinda shitty.
I understand that athletes want to win the big one but alot of the great players in the past would rarely sit out games and still win championships.

The only way it won't go away is if the Cavs don't play well as a team and lose one of the first two games. Then we will keep hearing about how they were rusty because they haven't played all of their starters together in two weeks.

It's a double edged sword though. If they play well then it will be because they're well rested. If they don't it will be because they're rusty.

I'm confused...do you agree with Brown's decision to rest the guys or no? On other post's you state they should have played about a half's worth of bball, even though they've clinched home court through-out.

Ummm...no, because once you win 4, you're done. So you play til you win 4. He played until they clinched homecourt. Until you accomplish the goal, you play. And he's resting to play in the postseason, so why would he sit in the postseason? Not to mention, 82 games have to be played. Only 4 have to be in any given series--why would you burn the other guys out for 3 games and take every series to 7? LOL, way to make even less sense.

There would be nothing wrong with telling Lebron "Hey go play 20 minutes in the first half nice and easy, give the fans who pay hard earned money to see you guy, not Mo Williams or Anderson Varejao, a show and then you are done". PTI discussed this yesterday and made a good point that guys like Michael Jordan said he owed it to the fans to play every game he could because without them, I don't get to do this. Now if there is something wrong with a guy, that's fine, rest em up for a potentially long playoff run. No problem with that at all. But if the biggest player on the team is just sitting out to sit out, kind of crappy to the fans who came to see them.

Nothing will come of it and it's just a story the media is running with to talk about something before the playoffs start.

haha yeah you can win in 4, but you cant win or lose in 3. maybe the backups can win 1 or 2, then lebron only has to play hard for maybe 2 or 3 games, instead of more. leaving him even better rested for the conference championship/finals when he will really be needed.

and no, its not because of lebron james this is a story, its because of the Colts. if this never was brought up during the NFL season, no one would care right now. not even about lebron.

No, it's LeBron. It's been talked about in football for multiple years. Haven't heard much about it at all in basketball, in fact, most people feel the opposite about basketball because the season doesn't ride on a single game in the playoffs.

But you're not even making sense at this point, you're trying to go off on some crazy tangent that doesn't even remotely fit the same line of thinking that held LeBron out of the last few games. In fact, you're kind of the exact opposite.

will you guys stfu about lebron should play because he owes it to the fans..or jordan played because he felt like he owed it to the fans. It is not the players decision whether they play or not. Its the coaches!

LeBron leads his team to the #1 seed over the course of 70 some games, playing big minutes and beating himself up and then rests to make a push for a title...but he owes 5 meaningless games to the fans?

LOL, that's priceless. What's the Cavs record at home the last few years? LeBron doesn't owe the fans ANYTHING at this point but a title.

If you're playin for seeding or a playoff spot, then you don't rest people. You play them. Wedge called off the horses. and it ended costing the tribe home field in game 7 of the American League finals.

I have been consistant in defending Brownie for resting his players. With that said, I would have played playoff style basketball for at least one half against the Hawks.

It may not make any difference, but this team hasn't played together in almost 2 weeks. That's the way I would have done it.

There isn't a problem. I have no problem with anyone sitting in meaningless games.

He asked what if this was Kobe, I pointed out the fact that Kobe did sit. And all you hear about is LeBron. Like I said from the start, it's a story because it's LeBron.
