I wonder if the headline "2 american apache crewmen are killed while holding their fire because they thought there were civilians nearby" would have gotten the same attention this one did?

Probably not. But this incident wouldn't have gotten the attention it did had the military not tried to cover it up.

was the incident not reported on or covered up? two different things. not every enemy contact is reported by the military.

Well it took them 3 years to release the video after Reuters requested it under the Freedom of Information Act.

I guess that doesn't exactly count as a cover up but they didn't want to release it.

Because they're aware of people like you and war is a business in a sense too. Bad publicity doesn't help the cause.

I am going to do this publicly so you get the message. Cut it out with the personal attacks now, or you won't be welcome in this forum anymore.

You. You are being hostile towards other posters and going after them on a different level. Saying things like "people like you" really doesn't cut it here.

What?? LMAO. I'm the one being called names.

People like you isn't a personal attack, I meant people that look at these things and don't understand. The military is aware of that, people like that turn this into bad pub, bad pub is bad for business. It wasn't an attack, that's who he is. He has a different view of the situation.

"You don't/wouldn't understand it" isn't exactly good debate.

That's fine, I'm not really trying to change minds anyways. Ain't my first rodeo, I know that takes more effort than I'm willing to give these days.

What were their criticisms of it? I haven't seen the film yet but I'm curious to know why they didn't like it.

I have said many times before, this world is governed by the aggressive use of force, both economically and militarily. It began when evil entered this world and will only end when that evil is purged from this earth. Humans are incapable of removing it themselves. Our nation was born out of the aggressive use of force. That force was brought by rag tag militia against a nation that owned an empire greater in that time than the one we have today. Once our nation was formed we forced ourselves on our weaker neighbors, expanding our land and resources. If we did not some one else would have.

We were drawn into two European wars and then competed for global dominance during the cold war. Since the early 1990's we have been the most powerful force on this earth. We are not perfect as no one on this earth is, we definitely have our black marks, but I would say that of all history's empires ours has placed a higher value on human life than the empires of the past. Our ability to project power will soon come to an end. Our out of control economic policies will not sustain it. Those of you that have bitched about the power we project abroad will turn your bitching inward. All of us in this country have benefitted economically from our nations past use of aggressive force. Other forces will fill the void we vacate and trust me they will be far less concerned with human suffering than our great nation. You can all rest easy watching morally deprived nations having at each other killing the weaker peoples with no regard for human life and we will be powerless to stop it.

Empires and world powers are a part of this worlds condition. Ours is the one currently holding the reigns of power. I challenge anyone to research world history and find a world power that has reached out its hand to the helpless of the world more than ours. Find one that has exercised its power more benevolently then us. We are not perfect, but by no means touch the foul nations that trod this earth seeking to fill the void when our power is diminished. They lie in wait and when the opportunity presents itself, they will unleash a killing spree this world has only to look at its past to find.
