I've heard reports that Brad Stevens makes 400k per year.He is probably in a position to earn much more, but at a different school.He is the flavor of the month right now. Should he leave Butler and take on a bigger challenge at a power conference??

I hope he stays. I am sure Butler will give him a pay raise but I don't see him making any more than $1 million a year. If he is smart he will stay put until a major school opens up like a Duke, UNC, Kansas or Kentucky. I think it would be a shame if he goes to a school like Minnesota or Oregon. He can win a National Championship at Butler and he has four starters returning next year, why should he leave now?

Stay at Butler until a great job opens. I don't see any jobs that are elite right now.

Will he? No I don't think so. He seems like the type of guy who is loyal to his roots and won't bolt for the money as soon as it comes up.

I think he should stay. Most of his team is coming back including his two best players.

Make one more run at it and see what opens up next season.

I would say two chicks at the same time, but from the looks of him, his parents probably won't let him stay out past midnight :)

If he stays at Bulter they will be a top ten if not five team for at least the next two years. Tough desicion but he does seem like a pretty loyal guy, I think he stays at least one more year and then sees what opens up next year.

He will stay at Butler for a few more years. If he stays at his current level, he will get a homerun job somewhere. Oregen and Clemson are decent, but he is too good for both.

Other than the obvious schools; Duke, UNC, UK, ...... what makes some other schools more attractive than Oregon or Clemson and who are those schools??

Reading Stevens bio on the Butler Web site, it is clear this man loves the game. While I know his salary has grown, I can imagine he took a significant cut to take his first coaching job.

Stevens, who left a position as a marketing associate at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis in June of 2000 to pursue a career in basketball coaching, joined the Bulldogs’ staff in 2000-01 as coordinator of basketball operations under head coach Thad Matta. He was offered a full-time assistant coaching position by Lickliter one year later.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs’ staff, Stevens served as a volunteer basketball coach at Carmel High School, working with coach Pete Smith. He further served as an assistant coach for the 17-year-old Municipal Gardens AAU team, helping the squad to a 12th place finish in the national tournament.

Stevens completed a stellar high school basketball career in 1995 as the all-time basketball scoring leader at Zionsville High School in Indiana. During his prep career, he set team all-time records for three-point field goals and assists. He went on to earn all-conference and academic all-conference honors as a four-year member of the basketball team at DePauw University. He served as a team captain and received the squad’s “Coaches Award” in 1998-99.
Whether he takes another job or not, I really don't think it's about the money for this guy. At least not yet.

Other than the upper echelon of teams (UK, Duke, etc.), I would put teams with a strong bball history ahead of Clemson and Oregon. Teams include, Maryland, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, etc. It is close, but these schools can offer just a bit more $$.

He is an Indiana guy, I don't see him leaving Butler for a while. He seems very happy there... and why wouldn't you be? His team is set up to compete nationally for the next 2 years

Go to Oregon...get at least 3 mill a year (Purnell got 2.5) Tell Nike you want Michael Jordan to speak to your team twice a year, a foursome with Tiger Woods twice a year(and his blackbook)

From reading a column on Yahoo Sports, it seems that this tournament has boosted Hayward's status to the point where the NBA might be an option. He essentially gave a "I have to think about what's right for me" quote when asked if he was coming back or going pro (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news;_ylt=AsetWLzJCicbyCLdiIIZ8nvevbYF?slug=jn-butler040610).

That could play a role. Hayward stays and the team will be a preseason championship contender, but if he goes, they're just a very good mid-major that might make the second round of the NCAA tournament.

If Oregon or Clemson or some lamer University comes out and says "We'll give you $1.5-2 million a year, he's gone, and you can take that to the bank.
