It doesn't have ".docx"

It has:

microsoft word 95 (.doc)
microsoft word 6.0 (.doc)
microsoft word 97/2000/XP (.doc)

Use the .doc 97/2000/XP.
Any version of Word will be able to open it.


I would set it to default to that format so you don't have to remember to always do that when you are done or want to send it to someone.

OK... now that you have all listed what you use, what do you think I should do in my current situation?

Should I go to the surrounding businesses and get their input? Since they pay taxes, wouldn't/shouldn't they have input on how the kids are being prepared? Yes, the kids have an Office suite, but they do not have the adequate resources to learn everything it has to offer.

XP at work/home

At work I use Office 2003. At home, I use 2007, and LOVE it!

I didn't learn on Microsoft. I learned on Lotus 1-2-3/Quattro Pro and WordPerfect.

Once you get the basic idea of a spreadsheet and a word processing program, they're almost all the same. It's true that there are some functions that will be unique (mail merge on word, maybe certain data analysis on excel), but once you understand the concepts, it's pretty similar to hit F1 and type in your question or just hunt for the correct menu. I'd say 98% of the stuff people actually do works for both (kind of like using Opera vs Firefox vs Chrome vs IE--as long as you can type where you want to go in the top, you're alright).
