This just shows how a playoff doesn't guarantee that the best team wins the championship.

Not sure if that is a rip on me, but if it is, PM me and I'll tell you how long I've been a Duke fan and how many times I've seen them in person and at Cameron. Congrats to ccrunner, swamisez, and especially reclegend, who is at the game now and enjoying the festivities. I'll be at the rally at Cameron, have to find out when it is. CONGRATS DUKE!!!!!

Congrats to Duke. Duke received "the" most favorable draw of all time!! I congratulate Duke, they did what was required of them. Honestly, I think the draw was atrocious. Their road was paved for them!! I guess it pays to be white and educated. Do you really think Duke would have beaten the other top seeds?

True...the best team wasn't the winner in the end. That's the best way to say it.

This just shows ya how easy basketball officials are getting paid off to call a fair game. Duke did not deserve a #1 seed in the tournament, I feel really bad for the Butler player's. I hope these officials can sleep at night knowing how bad they just screwed over the Butler Bulldogs...

Please, explain to everyone how the officials screwed over Butler, I for one would love to know :) I for one will sleep great tonight knowing that Duke is the national champs, sorry about your luck.

Officiating was bad, no one can deny that. But in no way did it determine who won the game.

Yeah, there were some questionable calls/no-calls both ways. It's up to the teams to adjust to that and execute well enough to win. Butler didn't necessarily fail to do that...Duke just did it better.

I would like to raise one question though. Since when did Brian Zoubek get a pass to just do basically whatever in the hell he wants in the lane? That guy threw so many people down and drew so many charges during this tournament that I can't believe it. He definitely was a key to Duke's success, but man, it seemed to me that he was getting away with quite a bit inside these last few games.

Butler lost because they stopped crashing the defensive boards in the second half and because they missed 7 or 8 layups throughout the game. They should have won despite the officiating.

But it was a 2 point game. One bad call can determine who won, let alone a whole evening of them.

Zoubek got a pass when ESPN crowned him as the "best offensive rebounder in the nation"

Statistically he has been one of the best offensive rebounders all season long

ESPN was late to the party, no worries.

Zoubs had an amazing final minutes, huge contest on Hayward, big rebound, massive freebie, and good on the ball D to pressure Hayward after the rebound.

As far as congratulating the ppl on here that knew enough to pick Duke? Really? Like i said, Congrats to Duke. Any person that picked them was simply a Duke Homer, not someone who knew more than anyone else. Id say any non-Duke fan that picked them to win iight be smarter than the rest. Not a Dukie Homer!!

Well if you call a FAN a homer, then guilty as charged. I knew this forum would implode if Duke won.

september,

I'm merely congratulating Duke fans...not people who picked them to win it.

I don't know if that's what you're referring to, but I just wanted to clarify. As much as a despise Duke, I can still appreciate the guys who support them through thick and thin.
