The two best russians in the KHL ar Kalinin and Morozov.

The KHL is on par with the AHL and thats saying something.
What I meant by that was maybe they were hoping that alot of time playing together would give them a lift over the teams like canada and US who didnt have much time to prepare.

Kinda like the argument when our hoops teams lose in the olympics...may say its because many of those foreign teams got to play together so possibly that helps overcome some of their shortcomings
