Anyone watch the show today?

I tuned in to see what Skip had to say about the trade. But was immediately pissed off because they literally started the show off with 3 straight Tiger Woods topics. 5 in total, they talked about Tiger for roughly 75% of the show.

All he did was announce a press conference. He hasn't even had it yet.

Way to fail, again, ESPN. Has anyone else noticed that ESPN has been getting progressively worse over the last 2-3 years?

Other than games and SportsCenter, it's a worthless POS. It'd basically the TMZ of sports and not worth watching.

Kinda like MTV was great 'till it stopped playing Music Videos.

i was kind of interested in what they would say about the NBA trades and such but all this tiger shit is crazy. I think they even did a poll about who was interested in the press conference tomorrow and 65% polled said they don't care. too bad ESPN cant take a hint

Count me in that 65%. I agree with whats his name on 1st and 10 today, who said this is 2 months too late. I don't care anymore. Just come back and play golf and let it die. I personally don't give a shit about his personal life and/or his family situation. And if he doesn't want to golf anymore because of it then I'll be sad to see him go but later dude.

I agree ESPN has regressed. Too many re-runs of the same news. I do watch ESPN for the games I like, Around the Horn, and PTI. : )

How many of you guys that feel this way STILL watch ESPN and the trash they put out? Don't kid me, I know that you do. Even when you hate it, you still watch it and they still make money. They won't change because it ain't broke.

It's broke. But I still watch it. That isn't why they won't change it. They won't change it because they don't have to--who is their competition? No one. They have a monopoly on television sports reporting. They can do what they want. I still watch because it's still the best source for whatever I'm looking for (for the most part) but you really have to ignore a lot of bullshit to get what you're looking for these days.

That's the problem I have. All these people who complain about ESPN still watch it. I understand you need your sports fix, but really, they don't even report on sports anymore. They'd rather make news now instead of reporting on game related material..

Nobody cares about the Tiger Woods saga, leave that shit to TMZ and E!..

Like I said, only time I watch is when ATH is on or a game.. I sometimes watch Sportsnation as well.. But sportscenter and some of the other junk? Nah..

I'd rather watch ESPNEWS, but that's becoming just as bad, sadly.

People still watch it. They're still making a killing. As far as they're concerned, it ain't broke, its actually thriving. Of course they have a monopoly on sports TV. When people that have a problem with it actually stop their bitching and just stay away from ESPN is when they'll think there is a problem with their production. But as for ESPN, it is faaaar from broken. Maybe some think the production has gone down hill and hate it, but yet they find themselves watching it throughout the week. Ironic.

I hear ya LTrain. I havn't watched ESPN much the last 2 years. I watch football games. But I get my sports kick off the internet and from other sources than espn.com. I've never been big into the ATH or PTI, or any of that stuff. I watch it for 3 mins if I miss a Heat game and want to check the score the next day. I use to watch ESPN a lot more in the HS days.

Right. Because it's the only source. I don't really watch anymore unless I'm watching for something specific (like today, about the trade), or there is a game on I want to watch. But it is broke. Their reporting is out of line in some cases, but they don't get called out on it. This is why you aren't supposed to have a monopoly. Just because they're thriving doesn't mean it isn't broke--it's broke because they've gone over and above what they really are supposed to be. They've become bigger than what they're covering. But they don't have to answer for it because they have no competition. The problem with people is that they DON'T just stop watching. Just like fans in any sport who have a problem with the way the organization is being run (like the Raiders, or Lions). If you keep going to the game they don't give a shit, and people keep going--doesn't mean it isn't broken. Plus, it's nearly impossible for people to make a stand against ESPN--the way they are funded makes them unstoppable basically. The media is run by 5-6 companies for the most part, some people think that those 5 or 6 are even having their strings pulled by 1 or 2 entities. ESPN is so tied in that they aren't going away and they can do whatever they want and still be around. It just sucks. ESPN used to be great, but they've gotten carried away and due to no competition they just keep going.

ESPN is even going to suck bigger donkey balls when the whole SEC Network bullshit gets rolling. It might backfire on them long term.

In a way, I'm glad for channels like NBA TV, NFL Network, BigTen Network, etc.. Some of these specialized network stay to the point and don't stray too often.

But it isn't the only source. There are other alternatives. I've done just fine since I've stopped paying attention to ESPN. Everybody has their own opinion. You think it's broke. ESPN surely doesn't. I don't. Do I notice that they aren't as good as they use to be? Definitely. But I can't say it's broke, not when they're making that much money. MC Hammer was broke. My pilsner glass when it hit the floor was broke. ESPN isn't in the same boat as those two. They do get called out on it, but it's just people listening to their own voice. They will bitch about it sucking, but when they wake up in the am or get home, they turn on ESPN. That's why I look at those people and ask why are you bitching for? If you don't like it, don't watch it dumbass. If you're still watching it, you must not have a real problem with it, so stop acting my an over exagerating girlfriend ha. The difference between a team and ESPN is that people actually stop going to games if they really have a problem. Cavs fans did it for a long time. 'Ville fans are doing it now. But yet, people are still packing the stadium to watch ESPN. And it's far from impossible to make a stand against them. Just don't turn their stuff on unless you want to watch a game. ESPN will still be a boss even then because they're monopoly. But I think ESPN would notice the decrease in viewers and would get enough emails about their production that they might change things up a bit just to be on good terms with people and be an even bigger boss.

I have all of them, but NBA TV.. Ironically, MLB TV replaced it on Buckeye Cable..

She was a drunken idiot at some awards banquet or something similar, made some stupid remarks (as UM grads often do) & had to apologize afterward.
