Duckme. Please, for all that is sacred in this world, do NOT involve rationale into this conversation. Do not try to bring into account that in less than 18 hours, the two teams were going to wrestle twice, only to, as you mentioned, wrestle in a sectional tournament together. And if you think about it, it is possible to see each other again at the District tournament too. I suppose it would be possible again at the state tournament!!!
My guess is, the coaches both knew what was going on. What I'm curious about is why they wrestled two matches? I mean, if you are forfeiting that much, why the two matches? Could it be that Pick. North had an exchange student from Finland and in order to enhance his stay in America and his experience on the wrestling team they thought they'd let him get 5 varsity matches that day!? And one of te matches would be against one of Groveport Madison's wrestlers who, as a senior, would be wrestling her final match as a Cruiser??? A girl that had been on the team since the 7th grade and was one win away from being a National Champion on the girl's circuit!?!?! That's just CRAZY!!!!!
But again, I'm sure my stories are just that, and there is a truth out there that far exceeds my ridiculuos story.
In the mean time, I'll try my best to investigate why Groveport would forfeit that many matches. Personally, my guess is that there is a deep=seeded hatred between the two coaches and the Cruisers didn't want to expose the Panthers just yet. They'd most likely want to pull the rug out from under the Panthers feet at Westland!!! Just when the Panthers think they are going to win the sectional, the Cruisers come up and steal it away!!! All because they hate the Panthers and didn't want to give them any advantage. Again, pure speculation.
