Reminds me of a story of my douchebag ex-roommate... He was a horrible basketball player but was on the team in 7th grade because there were no cuts. In one of their games, the team was up by over 20 so he got to play some in the fourth quarter. He wasn't exactly liked by his teammates. He got a rebound of a missed free throw by the other team with 17 seconds left in the clock and his "friends"/teammates who were on the bench started counting down from 5 like the clock was about to run out. He turns, takes one dribble and launches a baseball like heave that doesn't make it to the opposite foul line. The ball rolls out of bounds and there are still 11 seconds on the clock. Everyone on the bench is cracking up, even the coach. Best part is he knew there would be a chance he'd play that day and his entire family, including grandparents, were sitting front row in the bleachers.

I didn't play in 7th grade, but watched a game where a kid took a buzzer beater from top of the key, about 15', and launched it 3 or 4 feet over the backboard.

Agreed. Memphis is terrible, but they still KO'd the Lakers.
