ESPN Insider has the Brown's as a team that may possibly offer there 1st rounder for McNabb. I would love to have an athletic and competitive QB such as him, but I would say NO WAY. Not for a guy about to start a decline in his career. Although he is an obvious upgrade from what we have now for 2010.

if you were planning to make a playoff run in 2010...maybe you would make that move.
since the Browns can only hope to be competitive by 2013, at the earliest...no way you even consider that.

therefore, they probably will pull the trigger on that deal.

At first glance I say absolutely not, but when I think about it I might be slightly tempted if only because I don't think we can appreciate how much better the team would look with a viable quarterback that actually knew the offense Holmgren is looking to run.

He is 33, doesn't turn 34 until late November. Realistically, I think he has 3, maybe 4 seasons in which he can play t a high level but injuries are a concern.

The Browns QB position is a disaster, and even if we fill all of those other holes it won't mean a damn if we have abysmal QB play.

Picking 7th I don't think I could do it without something coming back with him. Although I don't think this will be an issue, because there are other teams out there that could be in the hunt as well. First and foremost being Minnesota depending on how their season finishes.

if i were the browns i would take him, even if it were just for 1-2 seasons

look what brett has done for the vikings in just ONE year (super bowl baby), the vikings were a mediocre team the past 2-3 years with tarvaris jackson and gus ferotte (neither been stellar qb's), but look what adding a quarterback did for this team, made them 2 dimensional..allowed more play action

could be the spark the browns really need

That would get the Browns banned form ever calling the Eagles again.

Kolb is the QB of the future, no way they'd part with him for anything less than a 1st, especially a late 3rd round pick.

I'd say no.

His best years are probably behind him.

And he has a strange personality where sometimes he goofs off too much and doesn't seem to care as much as the fans.

Browns would be best with a young athletic QB with some grit and toughness.

Frankly, I can't think of anyone that fits that description in this year's draft. Maybe Pike but his arm strength started to look like a concern late in the year and against Florida when he played a faster defense.

Uhh no. We need D with the first round pick. We aren't the Vkings as mentioned above, just missing one link. The Brown are missing a ton of links and Mcnabb would not be worth the 1st pick. We need the first pick to be someone who will be around for awhile.

No, the Browns would be silly to make that move. McNabb is getting close to the end of his career. If you are a team on the fringe you maybe think about it, but you don't do that trade if you are rebuilding

Kafka from Northwestern might surprise, I think.

He is very crafty as a runner and came on late as a passer.

I'd take him in the 4th or 5th round and see what happens.

Frye would've been good except no arm strength beyond 15 yards.

Browns need a tough QB though, somebody that doesn't back down and sells out when the going gets tough.

I'm a Steelers fan but I think Big Ben would be a good Browns QB.

Tebow is perfect in just about every way for the Browns, the athleticism, attitude, toughness but still the big question about his passing in the NFL.

Kolb won't be had for merely a 3rd. I don't think they will trade him at all, unless a ridiculous offer is made. For the people that keep thinking the Browns are terrible, they were a good QB away from minimum being a .500 football team. Not bad for a new head coach that came in and cleaned house for the season. We may have had more games with >>100 passing yards than the rest of the league combined. Imagine a QB being in place with the ability to pass for 3500 yards and 20 TD. That's what McNabb is. Are his best days behind him? Probably. But he has been a model of consistency his entire career, which is exactly what this team needs. We can use the draft to build the defense and line, we can get an additional WR, and pick up help at TE. Package all of these with a franchise QB, and we have a very capable team.

Now, if you're asking would I trade pick #7 straight up for him? No way. If Philly is in a position where there's a guy they want at that spot, I think swapping firsts and getting McNabb would be a fair trade for both sides. The guy isn't gonna play 10 more years, but 3-5 is very realistic. That gives us 3-5 years with a good QB, and gives us time to develop his replacement behind him. Trading from pick #24 to #7 usually results in the #7 pick team getting a first this year, plus something else, plus a future first. If they feel McNabb's value is a first, then it works out to be a close to even trade. He's going to make the entire offense better, there's no question about it. Even if they wanted like a 4th and our 2011 first, I'd probably say yes.

Yeah, if we SWAP 1sts, and get McNabb, I'd probably do it.. I'd like to see them add a 3rd and we give them a 4th as well...

That would instantly make us better, and besides, this draft is DEEP.

I also don't get the people who say we won't compete until 2012 or 2013... The NFL is a year-to-year league.

Atlanta, Miami, Carolina, New Orleans, Baltimore etc.. All teams in recent years that went from the bottom of the league to the playoffs in one year.. A few of those teams won 3 or less, and a couple won 1 game before their 1 season turn around...

It's very possible.

1st rounder (#7) for McNabb straight up? No way.

Trade 1st rounders (#7 for #24) and include McNabb? I would possibly do that.

Anything less than that I'm not even thinking about it...

Trading first round picks is a boneless thing to do. No way you trade our #1 for McNabb. Maybe if we get their first round pick back. You always want a first round pick in the draft...

No way. This is more of a trade that a team that is one player away from being a title contender would do.

Its not like Cleveland would be giving up much if they did trade for them.

You can't call Mack a bust. And just because past drafts failed doesn't mean you just throw your first pick away this year on an aging, mediocre, QB.
