I know that my opinion sounds harsh, brutal and medieval. Over the top mean-spirited, even. I'm ok with that.
I don't care what his architectually engineered answers were on that podcast. He's had a lot of time/lawyers/psychologists to construct his verbal point of views and opinions. He's not dumb. He was willing to throw away his family, friends and country to go join the enemy. Plain and simple. He did his research, he said his goodbyes. It didn't work. Not only did his actions result in a lot of money being wasted, he cost others their very lives. And in the end, he ended up being a caged pet.
All of this is why I don't think being simply jailed is enough.
We as a country need to stop being so hand-wringing worried about what is brutal, savage and insensitive. We need to start making examples out of the worst of the worst, again. And certainly Bowe Bergdahl has made the case that he is the worst breed of person who is willing to do anything to do what he wants. He's a sort of pathos that shouldn't be catered to by receiving the gift of life, however arrested that life my be.
I don't want him to be able to be smug about living or anything else for that matter.
I guess that's all I have to say about that.
