Also, the Kitties made some moves because Iglesias is out 4-6 months. They tradeded Lombardozzi for Alex Gonzalez.

That Fister trade is looking reallllllly good right now :RpS_lol:

Fox Sports Ken Morosi is reporting it was a 6/$144 million deal that Scherzer turned down.

Considering that he turns 30 this season, and has a short history producing at the super ace level like last year he must be extremely confident he is going to replicate that effort and bust through $200 million in free agency.

That deal would have put him in the top 6 pitchers in the game salary wise.

I am sure Boras will pull another rabbit out of his hat like normal, but if Scherzer returns to earth next year and is stuck taking a deal for roughly half that you have to wonder if it will make some of these guys wake up about his tactics.

Sometimes you wonder what would the players accept if they didnt have an agent to push for more and more.

I read yesterday that Boras actually takes 5% of the contract value instead of the standard 3% which is what the norm is apparently for most other agents.

He is lucky he has the history he does, because it must be an awkward pitch to potential clients telling them that by signing on with me you will have to leave high dollar extensions on the table and pay me 66% more commission than the industry standard.

Well he also probably touts how much more $$$$ he gets his guys.

Sounds like an asshole, and I know it is the owners fault for giving in (Just takes one) but he def gives people bad reps because of the deals he works. Hell there used to be teams who would not draft certain guys because he was the agent. That is fucked up

That's just crazy shit right there....risking $144 million. He's one rotator cuff tear, one slider thrown too hard elbow injury away from zilch.....SMH.

Plus, the Kittys know they will never be able to sign him if he does have a good year.....so they'll ride him like old horse into the ground.

Pretty sure he got rocked taht day as well when he turned it down. Or should we say...his agent turned it down.

Not that one bad ST start will have any bearing on his contract

Man are they probably wishing they hadn't traded Fister.

Scherzer is for surely gone now. Might as well trade him and get something while you can.

Saw Buster Olney report that league execs are irate about the deal. Haven't been this mad since the Jayson Werth contract.

Mike Trout seriously had to have popped the world's biggest rod when he heard this news.

If Cabrera is worth $300 million over 10 years heading into his age 26 season, what is Mike Trout going to be worth heading into his age 26 season as a free agent?

The Angels have to be pissed right now as the price on that deal just went up exponentially. It will teach them though I guess to not worry about being cheap next time riding out his rookie year deal and get an extension done sooner than later to try and save yourself money down the line.

Agree, but also....he doesn't have the body to play the number of games he's played per year over the years....same with Prince

They will be paying him $30 million at age 41. Da Fuq?

I heard the deal is not finalized yet....could be 10 years / $292 million or 12 years at $352 Million.

I dont get it...if they were planning on paying him that much, why not just wait 2 more years when the contract is expiring? What if he has a serious injury the next two years?

Also, he is 30...when will people learn?
