Since when (in any tournament) does a District Qualifier be seeded after a District Alternate? No matter what the kids record is, should a DA be over a DQ? IMO no. So when that happens, does that mean that being a DQ means nothing and its all about a record? So is it a big deal if a kid is a DQ or not? My questions comes from the West Jefferson tournament. In a certain weight class, there is a SQ, 3 DQ and 4 DA and one of the DQ is ranked behind them all due to being 3-5. If thats the case, then dont even put down a kid is a DQ or not. Just if he is a SQ, and just work out everything else by records.

Maybe they made a mistake. If they didn't, I think that each tournament can decided the order of criteria for being seeded. I could be wrong

Generally, a DQ with a losing record does not get seeded

IMO the record will have alot to do with it. A losing record shouldn't get seeded over a winning record unless they have beaten them head to head. Also if you are seeding a wrestler with a losing record that would seem like not a loaded weight class!

If I remember correctly, J (then Jeff) Jaggers was 0-2 going into Wadsworth his freshman year and I don't remember him losing again in high school. In the last 10 years, it is not uncommon for a very good wrestler who has wrestled tough comp. to have a losing record early in the year. It is very tough to make blanket statements, but it is possible that a non DQ with a great record last year and good record this year could be seeded over a wrestler with better prior credentials with regards to District qualification. Obviously, with the Jaggers example, the opposite is also true. I think I know what weight you are referring, and I think it is a valid question, one that can only be resolved completely by wrestling the matches.

Your right. Either way, both wrestlers have to go out there and wrestle their best. Rankings help a little bit, but its all about making it to the 2nd day.
