Anyone else wondering why they Signed McGahee at this point?

He might still have enough left to actually be productive this season.

They have thrown their cards all in on the tank at this point as being the only option, so why did they bring a guy on who should be productive and maybe God forbid help us win games?

McGahee would have been a good back-up if Trent was still here and they were sharing carries, but given how things have changed it seems like a backwards move.

Mcgahee isn't winning anyone games lol he's here because they don't have a RB and they need someone to fill in. Do you take every move by the browns 100x more dramatically than everyone else?

Have you considered putting me on the ignore list?

You have this deeply visceral response to all my posts that suggests it might be good for your health.

Had the Browns not reached out to Indy to "market" Richardson to them, McGahee would've been an adequate fit for that offense as a one year stopgap.

Shit like this is why I made my comments about the WR position yesterday. They are going to get fed up with his crap. If I were a betting man I'd say there's a 90% chance he's not on this roster in 2014-15.

This dude really is a dumb fuck. It seems it's only a matter of time before he self-destructs. That sucks beause he is pretty talented at a position of weakness.

Scott Fujita with an interesting article on the TRich trade.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/trent-richardson-trade-is-not-what-it-seems-browns-fans-092013
Physically, he’s about as gifted as it gets at the running back position. Some may question his vision and big-play ability, but I’ve seen this guy operate. He’s a specimen. For years, Norv Turner’s fingerprint as an offensive play-caller has been to run the ball effectively and take shots down the field. He’s one of the best play-callers in the game, in my opinion. Offensively, Richardson is a perfect fit.Maybe he’s just not a fit with what the Browns are trying to accomplish organizationally.
It seems strange to say a fresh start is needed for someone who’s beginning his career, but that might be the case here. Guys get drafted all the time to places they just don’t want to be.
I can’t speculate about what’s in any one person’s head, but when a player enters the league wearing headphones incessantly, shows up late for treatments, and makes little effort to engage with his teammates, he can quickly develop a reputation for being insular and high-maintenance.
It can be perceived that he isn’t happy and that he’s not making an effort to buy in. I’ve seen this happen countless times, especially in today’s head down, keep-things-to-yourself culture.

I think Mariota is going to be a steal. He's a big guy that can move.

Mariotta isn't the brightest kid. In oregons offense, you don't make decisions, its hike and get rid of it. Rarely does he ever go through a progression. I know the coach at st louis here who coached him. Said he's slow to pick things up and has always made mistakes when forced to think

Just yesterday he was on espn radio in Honolulu. They asked him about audibling out of plays and he said he's not allowed. If he doesnt like something, he looks to the side and signals then they change it from there.

Yea, intelligence and decision making are what made Luck and RGIII so special coming out of college. Luck was the Peyton Manning of college football, pretty much always getting his team in the right play. Smarts trump ability in the NFL.

Im not saying he can't become a good player. Or that he can't learn a system. Just that hes not the smartest kid. Hes definitely talented though.

Trent had a pretty good line in front of him at Alabama to run behind. In last year's draft, a Bama guard was selected number 10 of the first round and a Bama tackle was picked with the next pick. They had the other guard go in the 4th round.

Browns made a great trade here. Lewis is a better running back.

As for Holmgren's comment about trading their best player, try selling that crap to Joe Thomas or Joe Haden. Glad that asshole is nowhere around here anymore.

If that's the case I am off the Mariota bandwagon. Sounds too much like the Cam Newton interview with Gruden prior to the draft. Cam is a hell of a physical talent but infuriating because he hasn't learned anything since coming into the league. He makes the same mistakes he did his rookie season.
