It's still a banned substance, meaning he still would have needed to obtain a therapeutic use exemption from the league.

There's also the possibility that Gordon is full of shit. He could claim anything he wants and the NFL won't refute it.

I mean surely it wouldnt be an issue if he had a legit prescription for his strep throat. There is a reason he isnt appealing.

Dude, he didn't murder someone. He took cough syrup prescribed by a doctor. Whoopity fucking do. Yeah it sucks we won't have him for those 2 games, but it's not enough to just say fuck him, he's done. That's just being a little bitch about it. Take it easy, pick.

true. he's not rapistburger, but still, continued banned substance use issues raises a red flag to me. Hopefully he learns. Whether or not the problem is because he didnt report it to the league is yet to be determined, at least from what I heard. If thats the case, it was still a dumb decision. But if its not the case, then I stand by my original statement. Just tired of Cleveland starting the season with the odds against them.

Just sort of surprised by the backlash Haden took last season, but people seem to not have a huge issue with this, for the time being anyways, and I suppose rightfully so, if Gordon is telling the truth.

I'm under the impression that he did appeal already. The NFL is pretty quiet about all of this until the actual penalty comes out, and people knew there was trouble for months now.

I also think any of you believing his story are naive. Odds are the only codeine cough syrup he was drinking was included in his purple drank.

Haden took adderol in vegas, Gordon was prescribed by a doctor. Stop pick, just stop.

Both of those are more than likely lies. The NFL never reports what drug the athlete was suspended for. Anything that comes out is courtesy of the player or his agent. Of course they are all just magically getting suspended by these drugs that would cause the least backlash with fans. It could be weed, crack, coke, or whatever else. Stop believing these idiots.

This. He's lying through his teeth, if you ask me. I bet it was the purple drank more than strep throat. And do they even give cough syrup for strep? I thought it was strictly antibiotics. And would he tell his doctor or his doctor would KNOW that he's a pro athlete and codeine is a banned substance? I call BS from Gordon.

Let's face it peeps, kid is super immature. From this stunt to him driving his camoflage Porsche out of Berea on the freeway at 100+ mph speeds then tweeting about it. Very talented but it someone doesn't get this kids' head screwed on, I doubt this is the last suspension we see.

And he's the ONE A-hole that I thought this team could NOT lose to get off to a good start. They can get by without T-Rich but Gordon is, by far, their best WR and only consistent vertical threat.
