Since this is a 1 player keeper, I'm about to send rg3, Shady McCoy, Denver D, and a 8th round pick for Aaron Rodgers. Hopefully the guy bites.
Solid strategy but i wouldn't do that until you're mathematically eliminated.

I pretty much am though..I would need to win the last two. There are 4 teams at 5-5 and all but one are pretty significantly ahead of me in points. I'd have to drop 150+ in the last two games just to even have a slight chance.

Plus our trade deadline is Friday...lol

Sidenote...one owner in our league hasn't paid his dues. We're all good friends, so we know he's good for it. But he just made a huge trade where he traded three top 5 round draft picks and received 3 really good players (he's in playoff contention, the other guy is 2-6).

I told both owners that if he hasn't paid by this weekend, the trade will be voided. The other owner is NOT happy lol threatening to leave the league if I do that. We have 7 people on a waiting list to get into this league, so I'm not too worried about it.

Lesson to all...collect EVERYONE's dues before the fucking season starts, don't be a pushover like me :D

Is the trade fair between the 2 teams? What is it? (Also - i agree, don't pay, don't play)

I mean its fair for what the intentions are..one team is selling out next year (by trading a 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder and a 5th rounder) in order to win it all this year (by receiving 3 good players..Calvin Johnson, patriots rb, and a QB I can't remember who).

What I don't like is the draft pick trading...may have to eliminate that ability next season.

What if the owner without those picks next year leaves the league? Who is going to want to pay the dues without having those picks?

Yea I would be very weary of trades that involve throwing away the next season. If the league fee is a decent amount that is. Unless you are 100% certain you can count on this person.

Most points in my league this week as I move to 8-4 and sole possession of 2nd place in my money league. A win next week and I get a bye first round of the playoffs (6 of 12 teams make it, top 2 get a bye).

i'm in second but it's only by luck. The last two weeks my opponents just happened to have their season lows. If Cam Newton score 26 tonight, the 3rd place team will lose and I'll be locked into second place and 1st round bye. I'll have a 2 game lead going into the last week. Would love to sew up a bye spot before the regular season ends.

Bye for you!

I'm battling for a playoff spot. I have 2 ways of getting in, both are iffy.

1) Win and Owner B loses (best bet..although he's going up against a 3-8 team, I'm going up against an 8-3 team)

2) Win; Owner C loses, I outscore Owner C by 18 points in week 13 giving me the 'points for' advantage

You still have hope. I locked up second but I have 4th highest points in the league. I was fortunate to play the team that scored the least this week. The team I needed to lose scored 3rd most but the guy who had Cam shit on the entire league this week, so i just fortunate with match ups. My team is feast or famine so it's nice to know that for 2 weeks it doesn't matter how well they do ha.

Went 5-1 on the week with my best team suffering the only loss and dropping from first to second place.

I would still start Turner until Atlanta shows that they're actually willing to let that ship sail. Rodgers I think is the better fit for that offense but I get the feeling Smith will keep riding Turner.

Going into last weekend, my entire division was tied (all 4 of us at 5-6), and we are all playing each other the final weeks.

Going into last night, I'm up 20...He has Cam Newton and Steve Smith...I have Luke Kuechly (IDP) and Bryce Brown (who I started and sat Mike Wallace and Vick Ballard on the bench for).

Cam goes off for around 40 and Brown go off for like 32....Nothing big for the other 2...I win by 12, woot.

So now we have:

6-6 me
6-6 fred
5-6 tom
5-6 john

I play john, fred plays tom....I have the most points in the entire league (despite by 6-6 record..), so if I win, I'm in...If I lose and Fred loses, I'm in.

After suffering through a 4 game losing streak, I won a tight battle to clinch my playoff spot. I got lucky 4 weeks ago someone dropped the Law Firm (how do you drop a starting RB?!) and I've made all the right moves with my defenses (over 15 points each of the last 4 weeks, league average is around 9).

That being said, I don't think I can win the title with my RB core (T-Rich is fine, but Law Firm, S-Jax, and Charles) are my others. I had Kendall Hunter as my stash and dash but now that he's out I don't know what to do.

What are peoples thoughts on starting bench players in the final week to try and lose so another team misses the playoffs?

Legit

Also I hate bye weeks. Ususally my team goes off in the bye week only to lose the next week.

I don't like.

I guess it depends on the league, though...We have a core group that has been together for almost 10 years, we have rules against doing this (lose future draft picks if you pull stuff like this, or if you stop checking your team and leave injured people in your starting lineup).

I'm starting a full roster - but the team that could be knocked out has rodgers, why not play bench players to knock out one of the top scorers in the league? If i left spots open that's one thing, but starting a full line up seems ok. My line up would be Romo, Reece, Moore, Amendola, Welker, and Meyers. It's not total shit, but i would be benching Peyton, Rice, Charles, and Roddy.

As a comish of a league I would not allow it. In fact my friend joked to me about starting his bench guys/benching his team so a guy can potentially leap frog me into the playoffs. I told him I would set his lineup for him if he tries that bullshit, and that goes for everyone else in that league.

It's a busch league tactic, and if the roles were reversed you would be livid. Don't give me this "i am still starting my bench" bullshit either. Anyone could easily pick up a bunch of worthless scrubs and say "i am still starting a lineup." It fucks with the integrity of the league, and opens pandoras box.

Exactly...just becuase you had a down year doesn't give you the right to fuck over others. Be honorable and set your lineup like you normally would.

Yeah trying to lose on purpose just to keep another guy out is lame. As for me after my loss last week i secured the worst record in our league...which will give me the best chance at the #1 pick... although i don't want it i just hope i can get like the 3-5 pick lol.
