All in all, it is the referees choice in the end, whether it is right or wrong. don't leave it up to the ref if it comes down to it, because they will do what is the safest and most fair call in their eyes. I have seen a difference, but I also do not think some referees realize how much the sport has evolved. when the wrestling changes, the referee should be able to adapt to it, which most can do.

You are correct, but even a well placed half (deep in the arm pit) can become PD if the guy on bottom kind of curls into the "c" position forcing the top guy to walk to the head to turn. It doesn't matter how well placed the half is in this case.

It's also not just limited to halfs, almost any situation could become PD. All it takes is a wrong turn, shift in weight, etc...

Very true, just last night we had a kid (11 yr old) riding legs and he cross faced to get NF points. In the transition his feet went from being crossed in the crotch to more like a body scissor position (common with leg ride tilts).

It got stopped as a PD due to the body scissor. Nothing the kid did wrong on either side, but the ref was correct in the call especially since it was tight.
