Biased towards who? I believe Lady Gaga should win yet proceeded to explain why I think odds are in Taylor Swift's favor right now. These awards are as much about politics as they are about anything else. Who deserves to win and who actually wins aren't always the same person.DeyDurkie5 wrote:your obviously biased...Dave went in a compeltely different direction with their music...Swift, Gaga, BEP, Beyonce, all went into the same type of music they are comfortable with..Dave deserves album of the year.dtdtim wrote:They are all up for album of the year as well.SQ_Crazies wrote:They're up for "record" of the year.dtdtim wrote: I just listened to the entirety of the Fame Monster (her new album) online...I think it's very good. You can definitely hear a glam rock influence in her music ala Bowie or Mercury.
Even though some claim her stuff is unoriginal, I feel it's a race bw her, Beyonce and Taylor Swift for the Album of the Year Grammy, and I hope she wins.
Dave Matthews should win "album" of the year IMO. Shouldn't even be close.
Nominees:
'I Am...Sasha Fierce'-Beyonce
'The Fame'-Lady Gaga
'The E.N.D.'-Black Eyed Peas
'Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King'-Dave Matthews Band
'Fearless'-Taylor Swift
After looking at the full list, I think Taylor Swift has some very good chances. She's going to pull nearly all of the Academy's country vote as well as a lot of the pop music vote. Her album was good, the top seller of 2009 and she is riding a lot of momentum after the AMAs. The odds are in her favor right now. I don't think DMB runs away with it...they have some very stiff competition as all of the nominees are good this year.
Also, I don't see how Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga can go with something they're less comfortable with considering it is Swift's 2nd album and Lady Gaga was nominated for her first studio release. One can be afforded a change of direction when they have released 7 LPs. The two aforementioned are not at that point in their careers yet.
I do not think Beyonce nor BEP deserves Album of the Year. Although both were good, I just don't see an album with the words Sasha Fierce in its title or an album with a song titled Boom Boom Pow winning music's highest honor. Beyonce will clean up in the Hip Hop/R&B categories, though.
