You guys are making a little too much out of this...They didn't know then, and they don't know now. It's probably natural to start out thinking if they spit on you, or scratch you, or get blood on you you'll get infected...but then down the road as it happens to people and they don't get infected you realize it's not 100%.SnotBubbles;1097713 wrote:That's a pretty important detail to not remember and continue to build off of...."how you get the virus."
The writers may have just wanted to call attention to the two cops so the viewer would see the symbolism (and I admit I missed it both times). In terms of drama or suspense, that you can get infected by being scratched is not interesting. So if that means anything, it's that there are ways to contract the virus (maybe it's mutating) OTHER than being bitten or scratched. First thing that jumps to my mind is in animals you eat, or perhaps rats or mosquitoes. Maybe people are contagious before showing outward signs, so that would be a possibility too.
