Let me be the first to congratulate Olentangy Liberty on their first of what I'm sure will be several district titles. I would also like to comment on the monarchs from Marysville...boy do they have an impressive program. To lose what they lost last year and come back with a group of youngsters and put up the numbers they did may be even more impressive then what Liberty did. I think Marysville has cemented itself as the most consistent program over the last five years, and will continue to carry the mantle for central ohio wrestling. Congrats to all of the central district wrestlers who qaulified and good luck next week. I don't think many around the state are expecting much from our district, but I think they may be in part due to how young we really are. Prove em wrong!!

I agree about both teams, I was even saying it yesterday, if i had to put money on it today, id say that marysville will win the district title next year, and possibly the year after, they oractically have a squad of soph's

I spoke with many coaches, HS and college, as well as officials over the weekend at Darby and I have to say that first, when officials who work regularly make more money than the HS coaches who put in way more hours to instruct the kids, something is way out of whack.

Secondly, my $18 spent at Darby for admission for the three rounds was insurance that I would be entertained with some of the most absurd interpretaions of the rules imagianable.

Friday night alone to see a top rated kid caught in a spladle and watching the official way out of position to even call the pin and he does. I mean he is on the side of the wrestler who executed the move. How can he even see through the offensive man's body to see the kid's shoulders? He can't but he calls the pin. What happened next was even better theatre. The top rated kid was crying KNOWING HE WAS PINNED as they raised his hand in Victory! To the Mount Vernon Coach Brown, you were hosed.

You see I have been around the sport for over 42 years now. And in those years I learned from the sport that you get what you earn. Not anymore. Not with these clowns. The bottom man never has to earn a point. Just lay on your belly and clamp down and the officials will call the top guy for stalling EVERY time.

I asked an Ohio college coach "how can you possibly recruit an Ohio wrestler when they have no mat skills? When they cannot escape or effectively ride and turn?" He agreed that it is absurd.

Here is the question that I posed for the officials now for 4 weeks which they collectively cannot answer. Name 5 kids in the last 20 years that could actually escape effectively on the D1 level as true Freshman. I will even spot you 2 names. Dustin Schlatter and Steve Luke. Go ahead try to find 3 others.

You get what you earn.

For those of us that complain and laugh at the mediocrity of the Central Ohio officials, we are at fault. We got what we earned. There are not enough of us willing to officiate and force out what "talent" Central Ohio is being represented with at the Schott this week. Just look and laugh this week with disgust because they have no business doing a JV Junior High match let alone the State.

Every coach in Central Ohio needs to get their own officials liscence. I know that I will be in Refman's next class. I cannot wait to be at the rules interpretation with these fools and call them out in front of the association.

You are so wrong in so many ways. But hey, that is your norm. You are reffering to the 140 # match.The TV kid was not pinned. Yes, he got caught in a spladle, and was on his back. But his inside shoulder was caught inside the MV kids chest. He was a good 2 in. off the mat. What the MV kid failed to realize was he was exposed and let himself get flattened. Hence , the defensive pin was called. Hence,the right call was made.
What the TV kid was upset about was that hy was unsure if the ref had seen and made the right call. He was NOT CRYING cause he thought he got pinned, but because he knew he was not pinned and thought a bad call was made. The ref was in position and was aware of the circumstances and acted accordingly.

After the match both kids had the chance to speak to each other, and they both knew what had happened and were acceptable to what had transpired. Maybe you should get your license and then you can make the calls you see fit.

Were bad calls made throughout the tourney, yes. There is at every dual or tourny. That is the element of human judgement. But to get on here and bash the entire community of refs in one swift move, that is wrong. Easy to set on the sidelines and b@tch about it, it's another to grow a set and go out and do what they do and endure the critisism that comes with the territory.

And before you get your panties in a bunch, I have NO connection with any of the kids above, or any kid in HS wrestling.

Vinny - Sorry to inform you that I won't be there . But I did have the opportunity to thank a few of the refs as they were leaving last night and to let them know that I and others do respect them and appreciate what they do.

I will though continue to support the sport of wrestling and those that are involved.

That is great that you did thank the few officials for their efforts. Perhaps in 12 monthes you change from the skirt, grow a set and actually do the same for me after next years district tournament. On second thought, we all know that will be impossible since you sit at your computer hiding behind a silly moniker spouting off. Of course it is simple for a coward like yourself to tell someone to grow a set while hiding in annonimty.

It doesn't take a set to actually let the kids decide the match. It takes a person who has the dignity to realize that we as fans go to the matches to see wrestling not their antics.

Congrats to Cam! He does deserve it.
He has been under ranked so to speak all yr. Never really understood how he was behind Strope all yr after last yrs go to match. After all Longwell also got hosed on an equally bad call in his qtr, but found a way to overcome and persevere.
He does come up big in big matches.
I think too many people look too close at records during the yr.
Longwell doesnt have the sexiest record of that 119 group but you need to look a little closer at his schedule.
He wrestled 125 at all the tourneys except Medina(which was a BRUTAL weight class) and wrestled a lot of 130 in most duals this yr. This allowed 2 freshman to wrestle and help the team in duals this yr.
