Tonight's the night for our fall meeting.

For times and places, check http://www.cdwca.org/

See you tonight.

(Rumor has it, there is an unofficial pre-meeting somewhere near Gahanna's Lincoln High School. Just north and across the street. Rumors, of course.)

The only things "set in stone" are the dates for the tournament. Some things are being purposed, but none of those have been voted on.

Dates:
Round I: 1/23/13 (Wednesday)
Round II: 1/30/13 (Wednesday)
Round III: 2/6/13 (Wednesday)
Finals: 2/9/13 (Saturday, and this day may include semifinals)

This is all I know. Please do not ask format - other than dual meet - because I won't know the answer. Maybe Scott King does... but I don't.

At-Large Recipient: Jason Russell (Columbus West)
DIII Scholar Athlete: Michael Falk (Grandview Heights)
DII Scholar Athlete: Joe Grandominico ((Lewis Center) Olentangy)
DI Scholar Athlete: Randy Languis (Dublin Scioto)

And if I may say, the list of off-the-mat credentials BLEW AWAY their on-the-mat success. One kid had a 31 on his ACT, another kid finished with an above 4. GPA!?!?!?! Yet another was able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Amazing kids. All of them.

Thomas Worthington will host the All-Metro and OCC selection meeting.

Actually one had both a 32 on his ACT and a 4.3 GPA. But really, who's keeping score? (:

....
Voted on? Do you think the format of seeding will be voted on?

Hmmmm...that would be a pleasant occurrence.

maddog: Why I oughtta!?!?!?! When I was in high school, I didn't care to add two or more numbers to come up with 32! I mean, I've scored PLENTY of 32's in my day, but those were out of 100!

Con_Alma: One idea being battered around was something about splitting the state into 8 areas or regions. Kind of like the 4 districts we have now, but the number would be doubled. Details weren't there as it is two seasons away, but that's what we have.

As for seeding... NO CLUE! My guess is... have a meeting!!!!! ;)

Yes...at the NE District Coaches Meeting 8 regions were discussed. The big issue was seeding. We still have seeding issues for sectionals up here. It's got to be addressed. Clear, defined criteria needs to be put into place.

Taking 8 to the State tournament will be interesting.

It is certainly going to be interesting. Do you think league placement should be considered? Personally, I don't, but maybe you have a different opinion.

I don't know yet. My first objective is to have the willingness in place to have some seeding criteria since we don't have it up here for Sectionals. It's basically a big arguement session. It's ridiculous.

If we get to the point that clear, defined criteria is going to be used I guess I would spend some mental energy on what I think is important.

I can see how league records may play a role. In today's prep school wrestling it's really the only time a Coach "plays the game" with his lineup. I don't know when else you get a true and accurate snapshot of what a "team" is capable of. All other evaluations of a team's potential are purely speculative based on individual's performances.

I don't, however, think a league's record is the be all end all.

What's interesting to me is that the OHSAA will no longer crown a team State champion based on the individual State tournament points.

We have flipped roles...the Coaches Association is taking over the individual tournament while the State Dual meet is run by the OHSAA. Very interesting.

Do you mean apply for scholar athlete????? Your coach will do that at NEXT year's meeting.

If you mean apply to wrestle in the state dual meet tournament, it doesn't work that way! :) ;) :)
