No, this was based on passer rating after yesterday's game (was actually 14th). There's no way that he's in the top tier of NFL QB's but I won't retract the statement that I think the Browns can play with anyone with him under center. He gives us a much better chance than Delhomme if just by his mobility alone. He's not a QB that you build a franchise around but he's better than a few of the QB's currently starting.

Better than a few? Hes probably better than about 10. A lot of bad qbs starting at the moment.

Max Hall - Based on the only game he's played in his career, NO
Shaun Hill - Has actually played pretty decently this year
Alex Smith - Maybe
Jimmy Clausen - Yes
Ryan Fitzpartrick - Not based on this season's stats
Chad Henne - Not even close
Carson Palmer - Possible
Matt Cassel - No
Bruce Gradkowski/Jason Campbell - Gradkowski has slightly better stats this year
Matt Hasselback - Wallace has better stats, but you almost have to think that Hasselback is better because Wallace couldn't beat him out

Not trying to start an argument, because really its just everyone's opinion, not fact....but how can you say he's not better than Fitzpatrick and Gradkowski because of this season's stats, then say even though he has better stats than Hasselback he's still worse than him? Again, I don't really care who he is better than, I just want wins.

Kinda threw me off as well. I'm the same way, I dont give a damn who the starting QB is. Might as well see what the kid can do

I can see that side of the argument, but I also understand not wanting to scar him(Couch). Really though they don't have much of a choice. If Hillis is still hurt though, I don't think it will be pretty.

Obviously guys like Wallace, Hall, Gradkowski and Clausen, you don't have a lot to go off of. That's why I referred to the stats. With a guy like Hasselback, one could be led to believe that Hasselback is the better guy if for no other reason than that Seattle kept Hasselback and shipped off Wallace. If Seattle thought Wallace was better than Hasselback they don't send him away.

Either way, it is a matter of opinion. It would be difficult to convince me that there are 10 QB's in the NFL worse than Wallace, but with that said I really do like Wallace. But I like him a lot more as a #2. Regardless, he's an improvement over last year's starters. He's just not a long term answer.

Agreed. I just thought you were going by this year. If you include Hasselback's career then obviously he's a better QB. I really like Wallace too. IMO we would have won sunday if he would've played the whole game. If he has a high ankle sprain though we might have to see McCoy play through the toughest part of the schedule. Which could be a great learning experience, or a horrible disaster. Being a Cleveland fan, I fear the worst.

-Carson Palmer is the reason why cincy has been losing all their games, except for the Cleveland game. Wallace hasn't cost the Browns any of their losses yet.

- Cassel, based off stats yes. Also Cassel hasn't done shit since he was with the Chiefs. It's one thing to take over a previously unbeaten team, and another to take over team with far less talent.
- Shawn Hill is 4th in interceptions
-Not really impressed with Chad Henne, but I will give you that one. I will replace him with Bradford. Bradford will more than likely have the better career, but right now he is not the better QB. If Wallace and Bradford are on the same roster, Wallace gets the nod as the starter.

The browns o line has allowed two starting qb's to get hurt in five games that leads me to believe the line of experienced starting qb's waiting to get their shot in Berea is short.

I'm too gone to get into the "how many QBs" are worse than Wallace, but I will say that he currently is EASILY the best option for them. If he's starting for them two years from now, unless they've had an injury to their actual starter, their management should be lynched.

Seneca's a solid journeyman back-up kind of player. He won't win games for you, but if you lose, he won't be the first guy you point at. I'd consider him a great short-term fix for a rebuilding team. He won't make crippling mistakes with regularity and is pretty steady. To reach a playoff-success level, you'll need a better guy, but right now, he at least is a good guy to work with the young guys. At least, he's done a good job of keeping them competitive and, against the Bengals, winning.

Look! I'm really baked!!! Hopefully, I can be coherent, but no promises.

In the right short-term role a journeyman back-up can come off as reasonably good. Wallace has a solid defense that has the benefit of a lot of youth and enthusisam on its side, as well as a difference-maker RB in Hillis. I think that was solid with Seattle...never good, but never bad...and just lost games. I think the same has been true with the Browns. He's never been truly good, but he's never sucked (and compared to the other guys, he's a huge plus). He'll keep you in the game if other aspects of the team are working, but if you win, he won't be near the first guy you praise (unless you start off by saying, "Our guy only completed 55% of his passes for 155 yards, but didn't throw a costly pick or anything!!!"). A manager, not a true leader.

I explained how I used stats for one and not the other. Hasselback has a body of work and was the starter in front of Wallace. If Seattle thought Wallace was a better option at this point, they keep him.

That happens a lot, too. I think it took me about 20 minutes to come up with that...and I started with a focused idea.
