I want them to use their first pick to draft a QB. At the time I thought he was nuts to consider it but if Holmgren could have swung the Sam Bradford deal, that would've been pretty sweet. The only problem is that we'd have no TJ Ward or Haden if that happened.

That's a trade any Browns fan would take, Bradford for those two.

Bradford is going to be a great player in the NFL. Just has all the tools.

I think the Rams knew what they had and weren't going to part with him regardless.

The problem is, not only would the Browns have had to given up the rights to Ward & Haden but the Rams wanted our whole 2010 draft and part of 2011's.

Yea, not sure if he's worth that or not. He was a system QB in college, so it was hard to say how he would translate, but from all accounts most were REALLY high on him. The Rams got their guy, maybe the Browns get theirs this upcoming draft.

We can only hope. I just don't want Holmgren to get too cute and think he can turn water (McCoy) into wine. He seems to think you don't need to draft a franchise QB in the 1st round yet he contradicted himself by going after Bradford hard.

The biggest thing that has kept the Browns from 3 more wins in this young season was crappy QB play. Both Wallace & Delhomme threw either pick 6's or close (Delhomme) that took the wind out of this teams' sails. They are very competitive but the QB position is neutering them, as usual.

No thanks. The Bengals have more talent than the Browns and he can't even consistently win with them,

No thanks to Matt Flynn. Give me Ratliff and let McCoy get some if need be, no matter how bad it is. (Hammer just said McCoy looked like a make a wish kid on the sidelines on sunday). If you really want to get some next franchise guy now get that MSU kid Hoyer from NE. I am happy to tank the season and ride it out with ratliff mccoy and wallace.

Makes you wonder what is going through Holmgren's head with all of these (competitive) losses piling up?

Interesting you bring up an ex MSU QB. Although I don't like the idea of Hoyer, I was thinking about Drew Stanton the other day. I always thought Stanton had all the physical tools to play in the NFL, but he really hasn't gotten a shot yet. With Detroit having their guy in Stafford, I wonder if Stanton is released or traded at the end of the season? He's a guy that I think a team will give a shot eventually. I'd much rather have shitty QB play from a young guy, rather than a washed up vet like Delhomme.

I know, it is interesting to wonder. It's actually hard not to be somewhat pleased with the way they have played the last few weeks after playing 2 of the top teams in the NFL close and beating the Bengals. It's definitely a glass half full/half empty situation, but regardless, coaches and teams are measured on wins and losses, so trying to stay positive only works for so long.

Yeah. I think Palmer'd be another Delhomme for Cleveland. From the few times I've watched the Bengals this year, he's lucky to not have Carolina-Delhomme pick numbers, as it seems the defense dropped 2-3 interceptions in both games I watched.

Holmgren has been very quiet.

Prior to the Browns signing Delhomme there were rumors floating around about a Drew Stanton trade.

I've said for awhile that something has been wrong with Palmer since he got Kimo'd. He came back and had a good year, then the elbow issue and his accuracy has been screwed since. Seems like the ball sails on him.

No more ridiculous than some of these names. Matt Flynn? Brian Hoyer? Are some of you serious? Any time anyone mentions Troy Smith for anything it's automatically assumed they're biased because he's from Ohio State. When you look into the facts, however, Troy Smith has played pretty well when given the opportunity and who knows what would've happened had he not gotten a throat infection that sidelined him from the starting job. He'll be 49ers starter by week 10 if Alex Smith continues playing like he is.

Isn't Smith 3rd string on the Niners depth chart?

Who knows what would have happened? He would have played for awhile keeping the seat warm for the 1st rounder, Flacco, who the Rats actually moved UP in the draft to get. First rounders don't typically ride the pine for very long when their team gives up draft picks to move up to get them.

The reason those names have been brought up is that they are names that have been linked to the Browns. Troy Smith's name has been brought up on NUMEROUS occasions being linked to the Browns and every time the Browns front office response has been "no thanks."

Because Seneca Wallace got injured it's a "mockery?" Wallace is a top 15 QB after yesterday's stats. I'm confident that the Browns can play with anybody with him under center.

You can't honestly think that? I know you are saying that based on passer rating, but he isn't close to being a top 15 QB in the NFL. And I'm saying that actually being somewhat of a fan of Wallace.

Wallace has looked VERY good this year. Him being a top 20 QB is not farfetched looking at production at that position from around the league.

And BR, I brought up T. Smith because if you're going to throw names around like Hoyer and Flinn, Troy is at least as good as those players.
