George Lopez just isn't funny to me. To be honest I never knew that he was a democrat, I just never found his humor funny.

I don't think the longevity has much to do with the quality IMO. Jerry Seinfeld has been a standup comic for decades and has been one of the most successful, but I don't find his standup that great (tv show was the GOAT) Murphy was freaking hilarious. Carlin was good, but I have never gotten that much into him. Cheech and Chong are freaking hilarious, I would put them up there, just didn't think of them off the top of my head. Dane Cook, I never used to like his stand-up but recently I watched one of his shows and he actually is quite hilarious.

Jo Koy isn't that popular, but if you get a chance, check him out.

George Lopez sucks. Carlin was funny before he got bitter (last 2 HBO shows or so)

For me personally if I'm going to watch a stand up show:

Carlin (before last 2 shows), Pryor, Kinison, Rock, Cosby, Gervias (his recent HBO show had me howling), White (I don't like any of those other blue collar assholes but his delivery just kills me sometimes).

But yea, I wouldn't even have them play Lopez at Gitmo if we were trying to break someone.
