First episode was a bit slow. I knew a bit where it was heading so I was drawn in. But that second episode is where it really picks up. Bu the third (the reveal of who is who at the end) I could barely stop watching to head to bed.

You need to watch 12 Monkeys. It's exlusive to stream on Hulu.
Or here for free: http://putlockers.la/watch/vkr6W9Ad-12-monkeys-season-1/episode-1.html But watch it on a big screen.

Took me about 3 episodes to start to figure out who everyone was and then it gets a lot easier.
I watched with german dubbing, which was surprisingly good. Hats off to anyone who can follow while reading subtitles (although, that may have made it easier to recognize names and get to know the characters).

I can’t do shows without the native language. The inflections and music don’t line up.
posted by Laley23DARK was excellent. I have questions. But it was excellent. Time travel and wormholes hurt my head.
I stopped reading this thread here...because the last sentence made me put Dark in my queue and I don't want to see what happens.
I am in the middle of season 2 of Travelers and it is pretty good. I am also in the middle of season 6 of Star Trek: Voyager and they have more "time travel" episodes than any other Star Trek series, so it is interesting.
Timeless on regular TV is really good right now, on season 2, ESPECIALLY if you like history.

I didn't think it was that noticeable a lot of the time. I thought it was very well dubbed, but then I don't think I've ever seen a dubbed film that wasn't kung fu or godzilla.
Just reporting in for the good of the order, here.
Gut - 12 Monkeys is nowhere close to Dark.
I only just watched the trailer after seeing this thread. Is the whole thing in German I take it?

Subtitles? No English version?
The show is in German. Watch with English subtitles
If you go with the English overdub version, you're doing it wrong.

Bah, probably moves this down my list of things to watch.

I've watched it twice with English overdub. I thought it was just fine, however, the subtitles don't always match. I haven't watched the German version, so I can't compare. But to me, the English overdub was sufficient.
English overdub just doesn't feel genuine. German is an odd language and I feel you lose emotion when you watch with the shitty overdub. I tried the first episode with it, lasted 10 min.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't mind subtitles, even with shows/movies in English. I always have, but even more so now. My gf isn't a native English speaker, so we watch subtitles with everything.
Money Heist is next in my queue, in Spanish, set in Madrid. I've heard good things.

I agree with you... El Chapo and Narcos I could not do the overdub. Had to be español. Perhaps the 3rd time I watch Dark, I'll do the German.
I watch Dark in German with no subtitles. I just taught myself German overnight.

jk gut, don’t get your jimmies all rustled up.
But in all seriousness, can’t do the English dub. I watch with English subtitles. Much better IMO.
I just can't wrap my head around this theory, and to me, it is a reality.
- Time travel will never exist, or else there would be time travelers amongst us (unless there currently are, and we have no clue)
- You cannot change the past, as it is already written. Whatever decision you (as a time traveler) make in the past, it's already been done. Everything you do is predetermined. You may think you have free will in the moment, but history has already been written.

Not if you read up on the multiverse theory of infinite universes and multiple timelines.
Many of these syfy time travel series/movies involve some sort of "policing" agency that attempts to "preserve the timeline" from people altering the past.
Travelers, Timeless, Star Trek: Voyager, TimeCop, DC Legends of Tomorrow, etc all have someone/something that is "watching" those that travel in time and keep them from altering the timeline "too much".
I like the German version with English subtitles as well. Like Auto, the emotion and such doesn’t match with a dub.
For those hesitant, the English subtitles isn’t as big a deal as most shows, because of the plot. It’s a detective show at it’s core, so lots of screen time with minimal to no dialogue. Makes it easier to follow.

LMAO. You haven't even watched 1/2 the first season. Go read reviews and spoil it for yourself. You're an idiot. S3 of 12 Monkeys shits all over Dark, they aren't even remotely in the same league.
And Dark is good, just that 12 Monkeys is exceptional top-to-bottom.
Kate Upton is ugly.

Gut, I disagree with you. But thanks for calling me an idiot for not agreeing with you!!!!!!!1!!!!!
Don't agree with my opinion?! IDIOT!
Typical gut.

He made that proclamation after 2 shows of a series consistely reviewed, ranked and rated higher than Dark - a show he puts in the top-5 all-time after 1 season, and one not even on the radar of the top-5 of its subgenre.
If you liked Dark, you should check out 12 Monkeys. Don't listen to ETB.
Last time I'll talk about 12 Monkeys in this thread.
