Took me forever to fall asleep when I finished that season. Blew my fucking mind. 

Once they revealed the paradoxes in the last few episodes my head was spinning. Also the reveal about Jonas. Usually I pick up on stuff like that, but I had no fucking clue. 

I figured the main traveler was Jonas before they revealed.  I think I may have to go back and rewatch the series.  Can't wait for season 2.

Yeah, that was reasonable enough and they did some foreshadowing.  Otherwise it's kind of hard to find actors who plausibly pass as younger/older versions of the same character.

I'm not good with names - it seemed like maybe the priest was meeting with his younger self at the end.  But they didn't look very much alike, and I suspect the priest is not from the future, but the past (because if he's from the future he probably isn't needing to build a time machine in his basement, unless the black hole is simply too limiting for their purposes).  And Claudia has been out running around the future - which we haven't seen yet - for a long time.  Really not sure what she's up to.

The part (of Dark) that I can't wrap my mind around is the time outside of the three (2019; 1983; 1956) that they show.  It's always present (83), forward (19), and past (56).  Can they continue to go forward 33 years from each time?

They tell us they can go 15(?) years forward or back.   But I assume that means from point-to-point in time.  And I assume it explains the need for the actual time machines.   My take is the blackhole has limited options.

I just started Dark again.  For those of you who have seen it and loved it, then I suggest a re-watch.  Easier to understand things when you know who characters are, what the deal is, and what is going to happen with them.

I thought he said it when he gave the suitcase machine to the watchmaker.  They haven't said it in the show, but I think it's assumed longer jumps require more power.  A lot of reasons why they need to build time machines.  For one, once an event happens today in the past, you can't go back to that day thru the caves but rather have to wait 33 years to loop around.  And like I said, they didn't show us 2052 but I assume that's where Claudia has been all these years.

Might as well start its own thread.  You might have missed this nugget: the Priest knows everything that is going to happen, even the people going back in time who don't know they are going to do it yet.  Because he's been to the future, and so he knows "how this loops plays out".

But that would imply he's lived many years in that future, and he doesn't appear to have aged.  LOL, I need to stop myself.  I don't want to start analyzing this and inadvertently spoil 12 Monkeys for you.

I can do it when I get home. I'm also able to work on a spoiler tag now. 

The thing about time travel that I can never wrap my head around...how/when does it start? In this case, was the wormhole created/discovered in ‘53? Or did the same thing repeat themselves then as well, we just didn’t see it?

If you try too hard to make sense out of it, you'll ruin the fun.  The black hole is just a bridge between the 3 time periods. I thought it was caused by leaking nuclear waste, so that eliminates 1953.  And if it happened in 1986 you'd think more people would have discovered it in the 33 years since then.

The question you should ask yourself is why are there no locks on the doors to the bridge, and how did the dog get thru?

I don’t mean to take fun out of them, I just can’t not think those things lol.

Question ... Do you think nuclear waste has anything to do with any of this?  I can't remember if that is answered in eps. 10.

Kind of what I thought, but they don't look anything alike.   I think he's from 1953 - don't be fooled because he hasn't aged like Claudia.  There's two versions of each of them running around, 33 years apart.

The theory I saw, which makes a lot of sense, is that in 1953 Noah starts out as a somewhat regular priest.  I'm not sure I agree with that, but there's apparently a subtle difference in the character that suggests when he takes that confession from Helge's mother he hasn't started his time traveling yet.  Then the kicker is the woman who shows up with her son to rent that room.  This is 1953, and she says her husband left or went missing (or perhaps dead), but that he was a bad man.  Said he was a "man of God, but not of faith" or something like that.  So Noah was her husband.

They've established you can travel thru time and talk to yourself.  So I think we've only seen 1953 Noah.  But he already knows everything because he's taking his orders from an older, wiser Noah who's already lived out the next 33 years or more.

Does it take a while to pick-up?  Because, based on this thread, I gave it a go.  The first episode was garbage.

Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB both gave it good ratings too...so I was a bit shocked how slow and boring episode 1 was.

In his, or anyone's defense, the show draws you in more and more each episode.  Good show.  By the end of it, easily in my top 5.
