The big wigs understand it, they don’t care.

I know they don’t care…and for that reason I feel like you on here understand it more than those big wigs

I agree with this. If someone’s willing to pay for it - have at it. But asking other citizens to pay for it through government relief or insurance premiums needs to be revisited.
It’s a land grab now for sure
I'm going to go against the grain and say:
Yes, things like hurricanes, wildfires, blizzards, floods, tornados happen.
Yes, things ought to be looked at like making certain areas a no-go for housing. Also as suggested above things like buffers.
BUT
Mismanagement is also playing a huge part in how wild things like the Palisades wildfires get. The people in California have already voted on props that would have helped tremendously in this fire. Years ago. Billions spent. Nothing to show for it.
It's just like California's high speed rail. A complete monetary suckhole with nothing to show for it.
We see this, and more, time and again. They absolutely suck at management and the ability to see things through to their respective ends.
Turns out the fire chief said that one of the items she had to cut from her budget was funding for fire trucks. I'm not sure why she finally admitted that, but she was called into the mayor's office for doing so.
Empty reservoirs, fixes not getting done ... all of which adds up to one big mismanagement cluster fuck.

Perfect
If Californians were smart they'd be asking Ron DiSantis to move to their state so that he could run for governor. Or somebody very like him, political affiliation doesn't matter.

They haven’t solved the insurance problem in Florida and he ran around last two years ranting about books lol

California also the insurance problems. I think more states are going to have that problem before too many years.
But when it comes to dealing with natural disasters - planning for them all year long, carrying out the plans and reorganizing after - I think the Fla. governor gets the best nationwide recognition for that. I know that even CNN and MSNBC have featured his preparing for this hurricane season and gave him props for it. Probably killed them in the inside, but they did it. You can hate the fact that he does get that recognition. But he gets it for a reason. And he got reelected for a reason.
I'm not saying that others aren't as good, because I think they are. It's not glamorous, I'm sure, to plan for nor'easters and the cleaning up after them as an example. And a lot of times we never hear about many of the Great plains govs. And maybe it's because they know what's going to happen every year and prepare efficiently and accordingly and have the grit to follow through, and now it's routine and doesn't catch attention anymore.
But California does need something or somebody to happen. In the worst way.
So actor David Spade has offered $5000 rewards to anyone who catches someone trying to start a fire during this chaos.
Also, referencing my earlier post about the crowd making a citizens arrest on the guy trying to light things on fire with some kind of blow torch/flame thrower and the cops letting the accused go? Shocked to find out the California cops would let an illegal go, shocked I say !
The mayor of Los Angeles might be in the running for most incompetent leader. When making a statement about the fires she literally read the words "URL" off her script.
